Another fond memory of Jonathan Sterne: one award cycle, an application asked my referees to evaluate my “interpersonal skills.” Jonathan reached out and let me know that he would be making it very clear to the selection committee that it was absurd to evaluate a student (especially an autistic) 1/2

Prev. posted on the other site: There is so much to say and yet nothing to say at all. I often tell my colleagues that I think I wouldn’t have gone to grad school at all without Jonathan Sterne. He introduced me to work and lines of thought that have deeply shaped my work to this day.
