Yea! That’s the way they go. They seem to like lawns. My favorite wild mushroom when I lived in Vermont.

Not morels. They are shaggymanes or shaggy inkcaps. The are delicious if you get them fresh. Before they start to deliquesce which they do quickly!

Out of curiosity. What are you using to get that fine powder from your dried mushrooms? We have been using a regular blender but it’s not working as well as whatever you’re doing there.

A Texas rancher told me a few years ago that the rattlers around his place stopped rattling. He felt that it was because the noise was like a dinner bell for feral hogs which were kind of immune to the venom. Perhaps that’s not what was going on! I thought it was an interesting theory though.

It’s likely a pindo palm. The fruits are sweet and taste sort of so-so imo but supposedly people make a great jelly with them. I have found them used as landscaping trees in Texas and Florida.

The official free- version Scrabble game app runs ICE ads. When I caught them running ads and showing a post for “Truth” Social I was done. Deleted the app without even finishing the game I was in.

We had a fun time at our local No Kings march today. I think there may have been a few more people this time and far less negative reactions from passing motorists.

The king boletes we find in the PNW taste just fine when they are large like that. The caps on most of them, large and small are rather pillowy and the tubes rather spongy. We dehydrate those for making stock.

It wasn’t a very good year for chanterelles where we live because of the lack of rainfall. We only found a few here and there. We did find a really good spot for boletus edulis though! We had a heck of a good time in the woods today. #fungifriends #mushrooms #foraging

I agree with you about the fresh lobster mushrooms. The best way to enjoy them is sliced thin and put into a dehydrator. They end up with an almost intense,concentrated mushroom flavor. Powder and add to soups, etc. or leave the slices whole and rehydrate in hot water to make a stock.
