"Hellaverse is racist"
What? No.. How is it-
"OH SO YOU'RE RACIST???

"Hellaverse fetishizes gay men"
Emmm... No... That's not-
"OH SO YOU'RE HOMOPHOBIC???"

That's how it feels trying to talk with antis

When I commented on Twitter that POC and queer shouldn't be hating the show someone literally quoted: It's a show filled with pinkwashed characters so of course we should.

.... I had to look for the meaning of that word on Google. Congrats to that person. They've fallen into anti-woke ideology

Whether is for these topics or to understand the concept of fiction as a whole.

And I think that's all I wanted to say, I really needed to get it off my chest. OMG what a long ass comment
kikisunshine.bsky.social
People just need to learn to not take everything in fiction as face value when it's not required and understand what is meant to be serious. What we need is not erasing these works out of existence but better education about everything.
kikisunshine.bsky.social
I understand you're scared that people wouldn't take seriously these topics or that they will repeat these things in real life because many times it happens and it's not because of these types of fiction.
kikisunshine.bsky.social
And sometimes fiction can be both a escapism of reality and also give you a good message. Fiction can literally be anything and that's the magic of it and people want to strip that magic away just because a story doesn't have what they are looking for and that's so bad.
kikisunshine.bsky.social
If what you want is a good story that tackles this topic with seriousness, there's a ton of them and you pick the ones where that's not the main objective.
kikisunshine.bsky.social
I don't really get why many people still think that fiction needs to be something to teach you about what to do or not, when in reality you can't kill dragons cause they don't exist and martial arts are not as exciting as in the movies.

These webtoons are not supposed to show you a good representation of this heavy topic. They are just the author's fantasy. There's so many of these webtoons because so many people, specially girls are into this. They love the thought of being saved by a handsome man. That's what it is.
kikisunshine.bsky.social
Fiction is... Anything. A reflection of our reality. A place where you can give life messages to people... And also an escapism of our reality.
kikisunshine.bsky.social
The problem, regarding this person, is because that this topic means nothing to the person reading or the one who created this work for not doing it with ""sensitivity"".
kikisunshine.bsky.social
After already saying this, now I want to go the part. There's this video called "Webtoon's Rape Problem". In this vide basically the person complaining about the constant trope of the girl who's saved by a handsome guy from being sexually assaulted and then they both fall in love.
kikisunshine.bsky.social
but what I mean by this is that sometimes you are not going to always agree with the authors wants of their own work and that's fine, but your disagreement is not an objective opinion to treat as criticism. Sometimes it is, but more often than not it isn't.
kikisunshine.bsky.social
I agree that once the author publish their works to the world then is no longer theirs, but it's inevitable to not put a piece of them in what they make. This is a big topic to have another conversation about,
kikisunshine.bsky.social
Jumpscares are in a lot of horror games even those where the jumpscare are not the biggest scary thing in it, this applies to shock value too. Sometimes is there because the author wanted it to be that way. And what I mean is that authors most of the time are creating for themselves.
kikisunshine.bsky.social
To that I say: Sometimes that's exactly what the creator wants because they wanted to do it that way or because they like it. The thing that they wanted to put in their work is what they wanted to do and if you don't like it or you're not agree with that, then that's completely on you.
kikisunshine.bsky.social
What? Do you wanted it to be more expensive? 🥁🥁

Okay no, let's be serious here. Ummm.... This criticism is similar to the one for horror games, saying that jumpscare is a cheap method to scary the viewer.
kikisunshine.bsky.social
Another criticism that I see a lot when it comes to criticizing dark fictional works is that they use these "taboo" depictions only to shock the viewer and that it is "too cheap".
kikisunshine.bsky.social
TRUUUEEE. Social media just suck ass now
kikisunshine.bsky.social
The phrase "You can depict heavy topics in your story but do it with sensitivity" is more often than not used with a second meaning in their heads. "Don't be too explicit with your depictions because it makes me feel disgusted". Which is extremely censory if you think about it.
