I simultaneously envy both Dick and Babs. What an incredibly lucky couple!

(Art sampled from "Nightwing" Vol. 4 #121 by Dan Watters, Dexter Soy, Veronica Gandini, Wes Abbott, Jessica Berbey, and Rob Levin. Edits: Dialogue.)
In a comic book panel Dick Grayson, the secret identity of Nightwing, is gritting his teeth while violently pulling open his suit coat and shirt with enough force to pop a button. He says, "Can't... go on... like this... must... free... chest!" Barbara Gordon, the secret identity of Batgirl and Oracle, looks on and says, "I love my life!" A caption reads "A Kilowog-core Edit"

I feel like any caption here would only make it worse.

(Art sampled from "Bird of Prey" Vol. 5 #16 by Kelly Thompson, Sami Basri, Vicente Cifuentes, Adriano Lucas, Clayton Cowles, Jessica Berbey, and Rob Levin. Edits: Labels.)
In a comic book panel Cassandra Cain, the civilian identity of Batgirl, swings dextrously through a small opening. Her bare feet collide with a much larger man in a security guard uniform, sending him flying backward with a "WHAM!" Cassandra is labeled "Feet Pix," while the security guard is labeled "Innocent people looking for pr0n.) A caption reads "A Kilowog-core edit."

My opinions are objectively correct an' everyone else is wrong. :D

(Art sampled from Shazam! Vol. 5 #18 by Josie Campbell, Emanuela Lupacchino, Roberto Poggi, Patricia Mulvihill, Troy Peteri, Paul Kaminski, and Matthew Levine. Edits: Dialogue, label.)
In a comic book panel the Commander, looking ominous and sinister with his face in shadow, stalks through snow toward Uncle Dudley, who has fallen down and is shielding his face with his arm. A helpful caption points to the commander and says, "The Commander! He is evil and fueled by hateful ideas.) The Commander says, "I hear their hatred. I'm their hero!" Hateful ideas come from all around, saying, "Hal is the best Green Lantern," "Guy Gardner was better in the '80s!" "They should bring back the Guardians!" "I'm mildly annoyed by Teen Lantern!" and "Ch'p and B'dg are silly and I can't take them seriously!" A caption reads "A Kilowog-core Edit".

Sadly, Gary did not survive what Lord Vader insisted on calling a "Friendly LARP".

(Art sampled from "Classic Star Wars: The Early Adventures" Vol. 1 #7 by Russ Manning, Rick Hoberg, Brian Snoddy, Ray Murtaugh, and Peet Janes. Edits: Dialogue, color balance.)
In a Star Wars comic book panel Darth Vader looks on while a lizardman dressed in an Imperial uniform grabs the shoulders of a blond human woman. Vader says, "Gasp, a Gorn! And it's captured the beautiful Nurse Chapel! Fear not Christine! I shall rescue you from the vile creature!" The lizard says, "Wait, what?" A caption reads, "I have a special, very personal assignment for you, Gary, Lord Vader had said. First, get into this lizard costume..." A caption and QR code read "Edited by Kilowog-core".

Ninja Court determined only 7 of Dylan's 100 old ladies he had sucker punched counted as legitimate opponents. Dylan is appealing the decision.

(Art sampled from "Batgirl" Vol. 6 #2 by Tate Brombal, Takeshi Miyazawa, Mike Spicer, Tom Napolitano, Jessica Berbey, and Rob Levin. Edits: Dialogue.)
In a comic book panel a martial artist in a blue and black outfit punches a little old gray-haired woman hard enough to take her off her feet. The woman is wearing a chef's apron. The fighters says, "And so I take down my hundredth opponent! Surely no fighter can match the skill of--" Batgirl, a.k.a. Cassandra Cain, is looking on and says, "She's an old woman." He says, "So?" She says, "You sucker punched a tiny gray-haired old lady. She does not count." He swears and says "She counts! And ninja court will uphold my standing!" Batgirl says, "For the last time, Dylan, there is no ninja court." A caption reads "A Kilowog-core Edit".

I learned ta' use Blender over the past week.

It was a lot of work, an' technical skill, an' I'm very proud of myself.

It wuz also not somethin' that wuz really necessary ta' do, nor something I had planned on doin'.

This is my life.

(Art sampled from "The New Gods" Vol. 1 #9. Edits: Dialogue.)
In a comic book panel Raker Qarrigat, a blue-skinned muscular alien wearing a sleeveless Green Lantern uniform with hood and cape, is using his Green Lantern ring to interface with a strange piece of technology. He says, "I am far too busy doing technical things that are work. So I cannot go out with you tonight, until the work is--" Someone off-panel interrupts with, "Yeah, quick question, are you actually doing work or did you wonder if you could do a thing so now you're learning a whole new skillset?" Raker pauses, then says, "Look I don't come to your house and tell you how to be allistic, do I?" A QR code bears the caption "Edited by Kilowog-core".

There are activist groups, both leftist an' liberal, who might have a chapter near ya, or else'll help ya' set up a chapter. You are not alone, an' ya' ain't gotta do all the work alone. Ya' just gotta do what ya' can do.

Organize, poozers. Our lives depend on it.

kilowogcore.bsky.social
An' certainly MLK Jr.'s tactics couldn't a' worked without an existin' base a' activists trained on how ta' behave in a crisis.

Which brings up another good point: Ya' don't gotta do this alone.
7/8
kilowogcore.bsky.social
In their meetings they had trained their members on how ta' be effective activists, how ta' handle emergency situations, how ta' protect each other. That groundwork was already in place. MLK Jr. would have been nothin' without 'em, cuz a leader ain't a leader without nothin' ta' lead.
6/8
kilowogcore.bsky.social
An' if the worst happens, if jackboots start invadin' yer town, ya' got that community there, able ta' defend each other.

When MLK Jr. went inta' Alabama, the NAACP, CORE, and SNCC, along with other groups, were already there.

The best stuff the Black Panthers, Antifa, an' other groups like that ever did wuz stuff like school lunch programs, neighborhood beautification, etc.

None a' this is strictly against the fascist regime. None a' this is violent. But it builds community.

Ain't none of us can do it all, an' some of us are so busy with work, family, or disabilities that they can't do much. But this is the kinda thing that'll save us.

Then, treat it like the way a church oughta be, an' never really is. Start helpin' people in the community.
3/8
kilowogcore.bsky.social
An' here's the thing: It's more important ta' show up fer the weekly meetin's (an' have weekly meetin's) than ta' show up fer the events. Because that's where community is built.
2/8
kilowogcore.bsky.social
When I say organize locally, I don't mean a militia (though I suppose that's a kind a' organization too). I mean things like unions, food co-ops, neighborhood planning committees, tenants unions, community garden committees, mutual aid societies, and activist groups.

Sure, he might not be guilty a' the specific murder a' the mayor, whose wife he had seduced away from her husband fer an illicit affair, but...

... huh. Actually he might be just a little guilty a' that one too.

(Art sampled from "Batman" Vol. 3 #155. Edits: Dialogue.)
In two comic book panels Jim Gordon is handcuffed in an interrogation room. Batman is interrogating him. Jim takes off his glasses and puts his face in his palm. He says, "I... I barely remember. Like a dream... but it's true, isn't it? I did it." Batman says, "You're a cop. You may be a P.I. now, but you want to be a cop. That's what you are inside. A bully. A killer." Jim says, "Wait, wasn't I mind controlled? It wasn't me!" Batman says, "Oh, I was speaking generally." A caption reads "A Kilowog-core Edit".

This is obviously an edit. In reality they're in Skartaris, which... um... wuz already colonized by a USAF pilot who conquered and ruled the place.

Huh.

(Art sampled from "The Flash" Vol. 6 #16. Edits: Dialogue.)
In two comic book panels the West family are trekking through the unexplored jungle of Skartaris. Irey says, "I won't miss this jungle." Jai says, "I only hope the fatal jungle disease I get is named after me." Linda says, "Come on, this is untamed land! I could name myself queen! Deadly and beautiful!" Jai says, "A little cringe there, Mom!" Irey says, "Yeah, colonizer overtones! Boo!" Linda says, "Come on, there's no one here to colonize! What say you, sexy servant boy?" Wally says, "Sexy servant boy? Score!" Linda says, "Play your cards right and I'll promote you to the queen's harem slave!" Wally shouts, "Woo-hoo!" A caption reads "A Kilowog-core Edit".

One a' the most effective things ta' do against fascists is take away their false sense a' power. If they don't think they're in a more powerful position, they're too scared ta' do anythin'.

(Art sampled from "The Question: All Along the Watchtower" Vol. 1 #2. Edits: Dialogue.)
In a comic book panel the Eradicator, an extremist robot version of Superman, is talking with the Bulleteer. Eradicator says, "As a hologram in Superman's fortress I was a devoted and unyielding Kryptonian supremacist. I had no fear espousing my wish for a pure Krypton. But now I have a body. I am no longer invulnerable. And I find myself... willing to abandon my vision of a pure Krypton for my own synthetic life. Am I malfunctioning?" Bulleteer says, "Nah, you're just a fascist. And all ideological fascists are cowards. It's a coward's ideology." A caption reads "A Kilowog-core Edit".

Tom Kalamaku was a class traitor, but then he had a mystical experience and got better.

(Art sampled from "Green Lantern" Vol. 2 #178 by Len Wein, Dave Gibbons, and Anthony Tollin. Edits: Dialogue.)
Two comic book panels. In the first the villains the Demolition Team are attacking Ferris Aircraft. Tom Kalamaku, Hal Jordan's mechanic, charges toward Rosie, leader of the villains, wielding a socket wrench. Tom says, "You're not blowing anything around here, punks! We're not just workers here, we're family!" In the second panel Rosie blasts the wrench out of his hand with a machine gun that fires red hot rivets. She says, "Stop pretending your boss is family and unionize! Trust the workers, not bosses!" Tom shouts, "Ah! My bourgeoisie propaganda!" A caption reads "A Kilowog-core Edit".

What're you gonna do? Organize locally? Start protecting and taking care of yer local community? Build the local infrastructure needed for national change?

(Art sampled from "Batman" Vol. 3 #154 by Chip Zdarski, Carmine Di Giandomenico, Tomeu Morey, Clayton Cowles, and Rob Levin. Edits: Dialogue.)
Three comic book panels. Edward Nygma, a.k.a. The Riddler, Leonid Kull, the wealthy new leader of the Court of Owls, and Gotham Mayor Jacob Horgan are sipping wine at a table in a sold-out fancy restaurant. Batman approaches. Nygma says, "Batman, come to join others in your tax bracket?" Batman says, "Come to investigate the rise of hate crimes in Gotham. Which help you. How convenient." Kull says, "We legally call our rivals anti-American." Batman replies, "And let people scared by your hate do the rest. You are feeding crime in my city. And I hate crime." Kull says, "Nothing you can do legally. What will you do? Take matters into your own hands? Because that's the only way to stop us." A caption reads "A Kilowog-core Edit".

These losers really tryin' ta' pretend the central trait a' fascism is disagreein' with people.

(Art sampled from "Catwoman" Vol. 5 #71 by Torunn Grønbekk, Marianna Ignazzi, Patricio Delpeche, Steve Wands, James Reid, Arianna Turturro, and Rob Levin. Edits: Dialogue, background.)
In a comic book panel Selena Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, wearing a cat half-mask to infiltrate a costume party, looks bored and unamused while a young, smug, and smirking man talks to her. She says, "I don't debate fascists." He says, "Doesn't that make you even more of a fascist?" She says, "No. Of course not. I'm not throwing you in jail or depriving you of rights. I'm just refusing to put up with you." A caption reads "A Kilowog-core Edit".

It's not cannibalism cuz Wonder Woman's technically a golem, not a human.

(Art sampled from "Wonder Woman" Vol. 6 #24 by Tom King, Daniel Sampere, Tomeu Morey, Clayton Cowles, Marquis Draper, and Brittany Holzherr. Edits: Dialogue.)
In a comic book panel Wonder Woman, cradling an infant in her arms, is following a young girl with pink hair into a house. The pink-haired girl opens the front door. Wonder Woman calls, "Honey, I'm home! And I've brought dinner!" Someone inside the house says, "It's... it's not that baby is it?" Wonder Woman has a dreamy look of fantasy on her face as she says, "Mmmm. Tender, succulent baby. I mean no!" A QR code is captioned "Edited by Kilowog-core".
