I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

A picture of autumn trees with a blue sky background. Robert Frost poem in the alt.
October by Robert Frost

O hushed October morning mild,

Thy leaves have ripened to the fall; To-morrow's wind, if it be wild, Should waste them all.

The crows above the forest call;

To-morrow they may form and go.

O hushed October morning mild, Begin the hours of this day slow, Make the day seem to us less brief. Hearts not averse to being beguiled, Beguile us in the way you know; Release one leaf at break of day; At noon release another leaf; One from our trees, one far away; Retard the sun with gentle mist; Enchant the land with amethyst.

Slow, slow!

For the grapes' sake, if they were all, Whose leaves already are burnt with frost, Whose clustered fruit must else be lost-For the grapes' sake along the wall.

A photograph of the Olympic Mountain Range taken at Hurricane Ridge, WA. Deer forage in the meadow. Rolling hilltops curve your gaze to the horizon, where snow capped peaks live. The day was lovely weather with a clear, blue sky.

When I was taking this picture of a gull and its reflection on the water coming in to the sand, another seagull decided to land next to the bird.

A photograph of a trillium plant. The layers of the leaves at the blossom base have not exposed the brightly colored petals that would soon be shown.

#WeekNforNight A phone pic of the stars. We were out in the cold one late night. It was clear with many stars. I put my phone on a long exposure & timer setting, and placed it on the hood of a vehicle.

Happy #caturday! May you have a relaxing weekend like my little one likes to demonstrate how it's properly done. 🙂

#relax and take a bite of my vegan autumn cake with maple icing. If fall was a flavor, this would be it. Recipe in the alt.
Vegan Autumn Cake With Maple Icing

The Cake:
2 1/4C flour
1/4C wheat germ
1/2C brown sugar
2 TB milled flaxseed + 6TB water, whisk & chill for 15 minutes
1C milk + 1TB apple cider vinegar, mix & set aside
1/4C applesauce
1/2C vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp all spice

In your mixing bowl, mix the sugar, applesauce, vanilla, salt & spices. Mix in 1C of the flour, wheat germ, oil, flaxseed, b. soda, b.powder & milk. Slowly stir in the remaining flour.
Heat your oven to 350°. Grease and flour the cake pan. Pour the cake batter into the pan, smoothing it out for evenness. Bake for 35 minutes.
Turn off the oven and allow the cake to cool in the oven for a few minutes.
Loosen the cake from the pan. Turn the cake over into a plate and allow the cake to cool more and slip out of the pan on its own. After the cake has completely cooled, make the maple icing.

Maple Icing:
1 1/2C powdered sugar
1/3C real maple syrup
1/4C cream cheese
1/2C brown sugar
2 TB coconut oil
1/2 tsp vanilla

1C walnuts

In a saucepan, heat the syrup, brown sugar, and the oil. Stir the mixture whilst it warms up. The mixture will need to become smooth and thick. Do not rush the heating.
Remove the saucepan from the stovetop. Stir in the vanilla, powdered sugar, and cream cheese. Keep stirring until the mixture has become smooth and cooled down a bit.
Drizzle the icing over the cake before it becomes like a hard candy. Scrape out any hardened icing left behind.

Top your cake with a cup of chopped walnuts.

The przewalski horse: used by people, made extinct in the wild, farmed & released.
The American Mustang: used by native people in its native lands, mixed with imports, wanted extinct by immigrants, been left on its own since it evolved.
The difference: przewalski is purebred, has a mohawk, good PR.

It is dumbfounding how our lakes, ponds, and rivers barely have any water left and people are still blind to manmade climate change, and saying it's just the changing of seasons, ie summer= hot, spring= wet. It has never been this dry! We have not had such floods! We used to have deep snowfall!

We've 2 full days of rain. We still have a leaking roof, same spot, only spot. We've spent money & time fixing the problem & it still shows up. I wonder if something is being overlooked or is just not easy to see. Would've been nice if the previous owners weren't being blind to all the problems.

Compared August 2024 electric to the August 2025 bill. Our usage went down 30% but it was only $6 cheaper. The companies keep increasing fees. And the elected don't do anything to protect the citizens from the predatory companies. 🤬

Please sign this petition if you haven’t already. It’s takes less than a minute and it’s so important. Hares are magical and beautiful; what a tragedy it would be if their population declined any further than it has already.

WOW! It's actually raining! I hope it lasts a while. These days we've only been having rain for five minutes here and there.
