Just thinking about how well Neil would understand Andrew's decision to quit smoking in case he wasn't fast enough to save Neil, considering how Neil used to beat himself over not being fast enough when it mattered, back at the Hemmicks. It's a shared fear.

Ppl often forget that almost every time Neil smiled in canon, it was a wild, feral thing that he tried to claw off his face bc it made him look just like Nathan, or he embraced the ferocious edge of it and scared the fuck out of Jean, Kevin and especially Jeremy. Neil smiling is an omen of death tbh

Mary Hatford is dead in every universe, because her death is a catalyst for Neil. With her alive, Neil could never be Neil Josten - he flips between being Nathaniel and Abram, but ultimately he's just a shell of a person. Her death established him, and Nathan's freed him.
