It’s far more than 50k. Those numbers are from 2024, and even then people on the ground were saying numbers had exceeded well over 100k. We should stop spreading misinformation, even if it’s well-meaning.

Americans strike me as very fearful-of having their minds changed, of people who don’t look like them, of disagreement, of healthcare, of the unhoused, of advancement, of each other, of everyone else. The gun culture is so clearly informed by fear, for example.

This utopic fantasy is irritating, and it’s worse when 🇨🇦s play into it. We’re dealing w sky high food and telecom prices bc of price fixing from monopolies, impossible housing/job market, failing infrastructure, public healthcare being dismantled, and of course, a huge swath blames immigrants.

This is the answer. One day of protesting is great, but it doesn’t really force anyone to change anything. They can just ignore one day. A mass strike to grind the country to a halt is where the actual power is, and it’s all in ordinary people. Capitalism has convinced us we don’t have the power.

The fact that we had better public transit options when I was a teenager than we do in my 30s blows my mind. It’s a joke. How are there no BUSES anymore? And no one says boo. We can’t get from where we live to the city 20 minutes away on the weekends.
