AI in software dev does have valid uses, but no where near what the oligarchs want.

It's decent when used as better type-ahead, or like... dynamic macros.

Anything more than that; the developer's job just shifts from coding to doing the same amount of work to tell the AI how to code something.

Any company firing people because they think AI will replace them will have a rude awakening after a few months.

It’ll take that long for them to realize AI hallucinates half the shit it spits out. It would need an insane leap forward to be anywhere near as useful as these rich assholes hope for.

This is also a way to stop rising wages. Every few years the large companies lay off massive numbers of people. Operate on skeleton crews as long as possible. Then hire back people on the cheap.
