Played one traditional song on the upcoming album. And of course, when you play a traditional song, you should play it in an untraditional manner. This one was written back in 1880, but I've taken liberties with lyrics and by adding a bridge.

Trans people don't need cis people to grant them any sort of rare affirmation. Their value is not determined by the way cis people feel about them, even if the cis people are well meaning. Their value is something far greater. That's kinda what this song is driving at.

I absolutely hate the bluegrass / murder-ballad trope of the man who kills a woman down by the river.

So I wrote this song in which a woman kills herself down by a river without needing a man to do it for her.
