usuallyyy i take the main coat color and make a couple of darker shades progressing in hue so it makes a nice palette

i use the line colors to convey depth and lighting, if its closer to the body or hit by highlights, its lighter, if its far into the foreground or in the shade, its darker

okay, i think i've got a success here, finally!!

ended up making an entire DSi screen bevel for the flavor

perfectly integer scaled and immune to bluesky's weird and dumb 2k upscaling!
