This is partly correct, as it used to be the case. Posts are now marked for deletion on the server side and are permanently deleted after an undefined amount of time(my guess is about 72 hours). This of course, does not stop third-party APIs from retaining records.

This is worth noting. There are no private posts on here, and you should NOT send anything sensitive in DMs, they are not properly encrypted
PRIVACY: Bluesky is fundamentally an open and public network, and your posts are public data. But you can make them a *little* less public by flipping this switch under Settings > Moderation. It forces Bluesky app users to log in to view your posts (and you're less likely to show up in searches). 🧵
