I’m thanking God right now that TCM didn’t obtain all the MGM cartoon library (Tom & Jerry - ugh!).
Wait, maybe they did back in the day.

In the 40s he was a husky, stolid beefcake acting in action or crime movies.
Then he became a lithe, musical, fey kind of personality that moved more like a cat.
