Not sure what, if anything the current #Iss crew has done but my current reception of #SSTV images are the clearest I've ever received. Thanks #NASA and @arissintl.bsky.social #ariss #AmateurRadio #HamRadio

Thanks! I couldn't believe it was still available when I got it 25 or so years ago.

Satellite antennas with a vertical antenna in between them on the right against an early evening starry night sky and a tree line at the bottom one third of the frame. To the left is a feedline running up to an 80m doublet in the trees. Just to the left of that, right above the tree line is a bright Venus with a dimmer Saturn to the left of it.

Yeah, we saw that too! My wife and I play Connections and Spelling Bee pretty much every day. Hamradio has also appeared in the Spelling Bee game before I think.

After lunch with some former university coworkers in downtown Scranton I decided to do an impromptu #POTA activation this afternoon from the Steamtown National Historic Site, US-0864.

Looks like it keeps transmitting the same image on every pass.
kr1st.bsky.social
I don't know at what times you are trying to work MS, but late evenings and early mornings are the best times here. During the day the Geminids are below the horizon so I'd hear very little MS.

SONATE-2 SSTV (Martin 1) images as received on 145.880 MHz at the 20:09UTC pass this afternoon.

I was too late to correct the slant on the first image, but was able to do so on the second image. Something hosed up the transmission of the 2nd image. No interference.

Very nice!! I will see what I can receive on the 20:09 UTC/ 3:09pm EST US East Coast pass this afternoon. Hopefully I set it all up OK.

To find out where to look in the sky for meteors, or where to aim your beam for #MeteorScatter, try the old Virgo app (Windows and Linux) maintained by DB1BM and DL8AAU:

www.dl1dbc.net/Meteorscatte...

You do have to enter your grid every time you start it, unfortunately.

#hamradio #AmateurRadio
Screenshot of the Virgo app. It shows where the meteor storms are originating from in the sky. At this time it shows the Geminids setting in the NW. The compass dial is showing lines indicating where to aim the antenna, SW or NE in this case for the Geminids.

LOL! I bet you do get a lot of requests like that. 😄

These F2 openings, like we also had to the west coast and Europe last week, are so nice because we don't have to compete with stations that are a hop closer during a multi-hop Es opening. Signals are a lot stronger too.
kr1st.bsky.social
Ah, that was you on the other side! Awesome! It was so good to finally see Alaska on 6m. So often I've seen propagation stretching into your direction only to abruptly drop after working a few stations in BC. This time it just opened to AK out of the blue. Funny band 6m. 😄

I didn't organize this or had anything to do with the educational aspect of it. I just happened to learn this morning that this school contact was going to happen and decided to record it since I had the day off anyway. 😄
