The profound desire for change is precisely why we must pivot from the old models of social help—namely, the Non-Profit Industrial Complex (NPIC)—to a genuine, community-led system of Universal Basic Services (UBS).

Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

With cameras rolling, they’re sniping priests for sport.
Here’s video of the incident
🤷‍♀️A natural, almost instinctual, reaction sets in: increased risk aversion. 🐢 The desire to hold onto what little influence they retain becomes paramount. Every policy decision, every public statement, is weighed against the potential for further loss. 😟

This isn’t about Jimmy Kimmel you silly goose.
It’s about the assault on truth and the freedom to speak that truth.
Without the truth we are lost.
Let me tell you, it’s much easier to lose a right than it is to get it back

Between this & zero traffic deaths in Helsinki last year....

The simple truth that's somehow utterly unintelligible to capitalism & those in its thrall is that doing the right thing by the vulnerable (be they houseless, pedestrians, or anything else) makes the world BETTER FOR EVERYONE.
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.

Reverend Margot Richardson, a hospice chaplain, found her sacred work reduced to "productivity points," where a visit to the dying was one point, and a phone call to grieving relatives a mere quarter point.

This is what happens when justice serves power instead of people.

Banksy’s latest piece shows a judge beating a protester. They rushed to throw up barriers to hide it.

We need this here because it looks a lot like our own Supreme Court vs. the people.

Obtaining a computer science degree once seemed like the clearest path to a steady job and a big salary, while art history majors could expect some of the highest unemployment rates. Now, it seems, the tables have turned.
Are Art History Majors More In Demand Than Computer Scientists?
Recent data shows dips in unemployment rates for art history college graduates, but it’s worth taking a closer look at why.

By outsourcing our skills, we lost them. The knowledge of how to do things—to build, to fix, to create—began to fade from our collective memory 🧠

We must start with a conscious effort to unlearn our conditioning. This could mean simple things, like pausing before swatting a spider, or more profound shifts, like re-evaluating our relationship with food and waste. The solution isn't about "managing" nature; it's about rejoining it.
