Knicks trail 28-18 after the first quarter.

The period had a fitting ending, with the Raptors scoring on a fifth-chance bucket. Fifth!

Broadcast should have played some kind of circus or Looney Tunes music in the background.

9:24 into the first quarter, the Knicks had already committed five turnovers.

They're already shorthanded tonight without Mitchell Robinson and Deuce McBride. Landry Shamet is being attended to on the bench.

Knicks have played Diawara, Kolek, Clarkson in this 1Q as a result
January 29, 2026 at 1:10 AM
Two fouls on Ariel Hukporti with 5:11 left in the first quarter.

He got some tough love from Josh Hart after the second, who was seemingly instructing him on defensive positioning

Guerschon Yabusele is checking in to play center, with Hukporti in foul trouble & Robinson OUT

Knicks look like they played last night & traveled north after.

Down 12-3 to the Raptors early. Too many turnovers to count.

Mike Brown used his challenge just minutes into the game: they won. A great defensive play by Brunson was ruled a foul, until it wasn't.

"Obviously, the biggest goal is just to try and make sure that he's healthy. And we're patient with the process more than anything else.”

The Knicks' to manage Mitchell Robinson's health excludes back-to-backs. That will continue.

The Kings just called timeout to get themselves out of a jump ball.

This made sense to everybody in the building for about four seconds, until it was realized that they did not have any timeouts left.

Tech issued to Sacramento. Knicks lead 99-85 with 1:54 left

Knicks up and looking to close...

Jalen Brunson from the mid-range.
Precious Achiuwa drive-and-spin into a turnover,
OG Anunoby slams it down the other end.

New York 99, Sacramento 85. 2:02 4Q

Brunson has 24, Bridges has 18, and Anunoby has 15. Towns on the bench with 17
January 28, 2026 at 2:48 AM
Jalen Brunson had Precious Achiuwa draped over him, tried rocking him to sleep, and just hit a deep pull-up two over him as the clock called for it.

Muscle memory. Feels like he could have done that with his eyes closed, dozens of hours of practice emanating off of each dribble.

For all of the talk about Karl-Anthony Towns' defense, it has just not been one of his three biggest problems this year.

In any order... offensive fouls, finishing inside, & 3PTers.

He's just 5-14 overall tonight but no offensive fouls and no shooting trouble. Good formula.
Karl-Anthony Towns is making his 3-pointers today. It's making all the difference for the Knicks.

He just got The Garden pumped all the way up after banging one in from the top of the key. Legit crowd pop.

He's 3-7 from downtown and New York leads 80-74, with 8:29 left to go.

That travel off the catch was OG Anunoby's third turnover in three plays to end the quarter.

1. Knicks 72, Kings 68. Bad pass stolen by Schroder. Clifford fadeaway.

2. Knicks 72, Kings 70. Bad pass stolen by Clifford. Clifford layup.

3. Knicks 72, Kings 72. Travel. End 3Q
January 28, 2026 at 2:24 AM
OG Anunoby got whistled for an offensive foul against Precious Achiuwa on a fastbreak.

Mike Brown is challenging the call.

Knicks lead 61-58 with 8:13 left in the 3Q. We'll see what the ruling is, but I think it's pretty clear that Achiuwa's feet weren't set and it was a block
January 28, 2026 at 2:04 AM
DeMar DeRozan pulls up right over OG Anunoby and drills a 3-pointer.

They went on a 9-0 run over the last two minutes before Karl-Anthony Towns broke it up with a spin and hook.

So the Knicks lead 52-51 at halftime. Kings should be encouraged: they're 4-15 from 3PT and only trail by one
January 28, 2026 at 1:38 AM
Knicks led the Kings by 10 after 1Q but Sacramento has pulled within four.

38-34, NY, 9:14 until half.

Kings offense was bad to end the 1Q with no Sabonis. Knicks haven't been great on either end in the 2Q, which is evening things out. Would think they get a lead back here
January 28, 2026 at 1:15 AM
Not sure if stats back this up, but it's felt like Jalen Brunson is actually starting to get a good deal of points out of the flow of the offense.

He's one of the best isolation players – but also shooters. Getting him more catch-and-shoot looks was part of Brown's whole thing
January 28, 2026 at 1:00 AM
Knicks swung the rock around the perimeter until Karl-Anthony Towns had it, wide open, at the top of the key.

Swish. He needed that one.

Knicks and Kings are tied at 12. DeMar DeRozan is at the line to shoot two. Still 7:39 left in the 1Q

Knicks doubling up the Nets, 52-26. 5:40 2Q.

Now the night's second test comes for the home team. They got out to a nice, big lead. Can they hold it?

They've turned the ball over out-of-bounds and then with a travel in their last two possessions. Need to tighten up before half

“We just have to care about what we’re doing. We just need a little more from us.”

82 games is a lot. Always try and think about key takeaways a team can pull, W or L.

The only thing I have tonight is that with ~ 9 min left in 3Q, Knicks decided enough was enough. They never pulled within 15, but they bottomed out for the night.

They host the Nets on Weds.

“There’s concern there, but not to the point where we're gonna overhaul everything”
