Embraced in pitch black darkness,
that twinkle from before glimmers once again from behind the curtain
and I meet the eye of the one who watches me.
A figure obscured, a shape I can hardly make out
except that eye I see so clearly like a single bright star in an empty sky.
I hear its overlapping voices. It echoes within my mind;
"You wish to be free." It isn't a question. "I can help."
An outstretched hand I recognize as my own reaches,
trying to grasp at this star, this twinkle, this hope,
as I feel the strings holding me up go slack for just a moment
before they're replaced in an instant.
A puppet once more, willing and waiting.
Can this be called freedom?
