Our paper made the cover of Nature Immunology’s September issue! 🎉
Aren’t dendritic cells beautiful? 😍
SEM shows pDCs as they switch identity into cDC2-like cells.
Congrats to the whole team! 👏

Excited to share our recent work. We show that dendritic cells that express RORγt are a distinct lineage of DCs with wide tissue distribution and functions ranging from inducing T cell tolerance to T cell activation. Great lead work from PhD student @hamswann.bsky.social www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

RORγt+ dendritic cells have a surprising dual role in immunity—preventing overreactions while activating responses when needed, as shown by an international team led by Barbara Schraml at LMU’s Biomedical Center. A promising target for new therapies.
Switching between defense and attack – immune cells with dual role
LMU researchers have shown that a particular type of immune cell acts more flexibly than previously thought – with potential for new therapeutic approaches.
