A big take away from Matt's Hidden Cats is that I personally shouldn't use code to manipulate animations in complicated ways. Too much can go wrong.
I'm gonna stick to just "gotoAndPlay".

Lol, every right wing newspaper wanted you to be scared of Labour raising taxes on everyone. Well it turns out they only raise taxes for working people - so wealthy people have nothing to worry about.

Just realised that all those edgy games Newgrounds used to be known for would probably get banned off Steam today. I think Valve draws the line at killing celebrities and children, which I guess is understandable, but it's also cowardly.

Making the loading screen do less calculations on each frame so it doesn't trigger Android's bad behaviour thresholds if the app is unresponsive too long. Will also help on slower PCs too.

Making a level select screen that can be navigated in 3 different ways and is also a playable level itself was a bad idea. But it's getting there.

The rare cat sprite behaves differently depending on if it's a goal or not.
(whether it's your mascot, or just a wild rare cat)
The one in the HUD doesn't know what it is, so it has two faces.

Played through and finalised 83 levels in Matt's Hidden Cats this month. Ooof. The game currently has no thematic climax though, so I may need to make a few more levels to tie it together at the end.

There's 90 in total, and while most of them can be collected through normal gameplay, there's a bunch you have to go out of your way to get, and they're quite tricky.
