Drug ads on TV trip me out.
How many people with hemolytic leukemia are going to see that ad, and ask their doctor about that drug?
What does it cost to produce that ad?
And what does it cost to run it during the World Series?
There has to be a tax write-off involved.

#Americana, #Country, #Folk, #Blues, #Singer/Songwriters Brent Moyer, Richard Ferreira, Dave Isaacs, and Kurt Fortmeyer,
will be together again at Springwater Supper Club and Lounge on Saturday November 1st from 4:00-7:00pm.
Expect great songwriting, superb picking, and (of course) shenanigans.
Back in the 1970s, this song was like a gateway to the drug called Country Music.
I first heard it in a bar, played by a local band.
Written by Dallas Frazier, who also gave us “Alley Oop”, “Elvira”, “If My Heart Had Windows”, “California Cottonfields”, and other classics of the genre.

I had the time wrong on my earlier post. We’re going on at 8:00pm.
Some folks seem to think that songwriting is easy, but for me, it can be an arduous process. Songs seldom (okay, never) arrive in their final form. I never want to rewrite the life out of a lyric, but the more I go through them, the greater the chances are that I can find improvements to make.
Two shows this week with this crowd.
Friday at the Commodore Grille at 7:00pm,
and Sunday at The Stillery, also at 7:00pm.
Jeff Walter is the only one of these guys that I haven’t co-written with, and is also the only one of us that has a #1 Bluegrass cut.
Our two-sided signs are ready for tomorrow’s rally.

Dave Isaacs and I will once again be performing as a part of the Townes Van Zandt tribute/Music Health Alliance benefit at Bobby’s Idle Hour Tavern in Nashville.
“The moonshine’s on the hill
Got possum on the grill
Mamaw’s menopausal and Papaw’s popping pills
A fiddler and a banjo man
That’s how we get our thrills
Hootin’ in the holler while the moon shines on the hill”
“The sun sets on the water by the old abandoned mill
Where folks used to make a dollar to keep their bellies filled
But that dog has slipped its collar now and everything is still
As the clouds creep through the hollers the moonshine’s on the hill”

PUBLIC SERVANT,
not the other way around.
When the folks at the bar have never heard the song before, but they’re singing along before it’s over.
Last night it was “Can’t Cut The Baby In Half”.

We generally have at least one kind of homemade (and no store-bought) #bread in the house…whole wheat, sourdough, focaccia, bagels, English muffins, and fruit (pear, banana) bread.
Yesterday, @nfortmeyer.bsky.social made pita.

It’s astounding how many great musicians and performers are out there, completely under most people’s radar. We heard Evie Ladin at a Hillbilly Haiku house concert yesterday.
She’s a phenomenal clawhammer banjo player. She’s also a guitarist, singer/songwriter, dancer, and a “body music” performer.

What’s your favorite Kurt Fortmeyer song?
When I play #Connections, I shuffle the words (usually five times) before I even look at them. I have noticed that they will try to trick you with the original layout.
