In the good news department, my older kiddo successfully defended his dissertation yesterday at the U of Hawaii. He has a physics Ph.D. aloha lei to prove it! We're super proud and very relieved that he has already secured a 2-3 year post-doc in Stockholm.

I'm no fan of MO Senator Josh Hawley, but he "endorsed a Democratic amendment" to prevent "tax cuts for the wealthy if any Medicaid funding were cut from the Senate budget resolution" (AJMC). The Senate rejected that proposal, but we shouldn't!

To improve efficiency, reduce "contracting and mak[e] the civil service more accountable—to American voters and to their elected representatives, not to freelance tech bros."
