hii i would be interested i am writing a bottom jayce giopara fic rn and would love to yap about it
sorry, you're saying this about a website that has intentionally included built-in "not rated" and "author chose not to warn" options?? what do you think those are there for exactly
the other thing that's driving me absolutely insane about this ao3 tagging discourse is seeing multiple people go "use some other website if you don't want to use tags" or claiming that not tagging extensively is using ao3 wrong

the fandom can dress it up all they want as a “soft epilogue” but the overall consensus that these two insane men need to be defined into the roles of husband and wife with a happy ending that coincidentally fits conservative propaganda w/ multiple bio children…it’s weird and should be questioned!!
tradwife viktor was my #1 bugbear for the first three quarters of the fiscal year but i think general top/bottom tagging discourse has managed to supplant it just in time for q4
sooo many miles away from "i think it's hotter when my fave gets railed". not even in the same atlas.
you know what i would go so far as to say this particular attitude is explicitly homophobic. it's like straight women saying they won't date a bi man because the possibility they might've put a dick in their mouth or ass makes them Tainted
but upon rereading i think they actually meant that if they read 300k words of something catering exactly to their preferences and then the characters wake up one day like "hey let's try something new in bed today" for one (1) scene then the whole experience would be Ruined!!

this is... even worse?
at first i read this thinking this person considered the time spent reading three hundred thousand (!!) words of fic as busywork to get to the sex scene. already a bizarre and unpleasant thing to say
people do realize that some explicit fics don't have anal sex in them, right? right????
personal preferences on tagging aside: no, helping people more easily filter out fics where the wrong person bottoms was not "why ao3 was made"

learn some history!! i despair!!
frankly i think his canonical utilitarian underwear is way underappreciated. thin white cotton goes pretty translucent when wet
but i think there are some fanon flanderizations that are specific to jayce and his perceived relationship with viktor and not general, idk, top slander
the one thing i am not sure i agree with is your theory about why top jayce is often written out of character--there is def a general fandom tendency to go over the top on miscommunication plots,
but you know exactly what you want and that is v respectable 🫡
also for me even if there's one theoretical ideal porn fic for my preferences in a given ship i get desensitized if i feel like i'm reading the same thing over and over
altho i do find it fun to try to thread that needle of "how can i put this character in X situation i think is hot in a way that still feels true to them" and see others do the same
if i'm in the middle of reading something explicit and then something makes me go "wtf they would never say that" about either party it's an immediate turn off for me lol and sometimes alas that can work in opposition to my general kinks and preferences
i think for me there are more factors that go into whether i find something hot, particularly exploration of the relationship between the two characters and whether the characters feel real to me
i can definitely relate to liking one's fave to be more vulnerable and more focused on and agree that that's more common for writers to associate with someone bottoming. it's interesting that you find that much more prominent with top/bottom dynamics as opposed to dom/sub ones tho!
haha i think the right format is the one that works! i can see all your replies so this is good :)

thanks for sharing! it's very interesting to hear your thoughts and they make sense! i can see how your preference follows from what you are looking to get out of reading fic
i had a great experience commissioning el! it was a really fun collaborative process and i'm obsessed with the art he drew for this
i had the pleasure of drawing a scene from "No Potential Conflicts of Interest Were Disclosed" by @kybersex.bsky.social !!

fic link: archiveofourown.org/works/72309266 !
