“Kentucky will never reach its potential if our children’s ZIP code determines their place in the world by the first day of kindergarten. The time for pre-K is now.” - Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman

"As we watch the consequences of the Trump presidency play out in real time, Democrats face a critical inflection point," @govandybeshear.bsky.social writes.

"We must meet this moment with urgency and focus — and with the clear and tangible vision it requires."
Opinion | This slap in the face to rural America is a chance to turn it blue

Trump is getting rid of the Department of Education. You know who suffers the most?

The kid in Eastern Kentucky whose only meal is school lunch. The special needs student whose aide gets cut. The rural teacher buying supplies with her own money.

Hope those billionaire tax breaks were worth it.
Trump administration launches plan to dismantle Education Department
The department will shift responsibility for several of its core functions to other federal agencies.

To every nurse who sacrificed years earning your degree: Trump just declared you're not a professional.
Department of Education says nursing is no longer a professional degree
The education department no longer considers nursing as a professional degree program, which can weaken funding for students wanting to enter the health care field.

Small anti-violence groups in Kentucky have plans to help our youth stay out of trouble. They just don't have the funds.

Senator Keturah Herron’s bill changes that by investing in prevention instead of just punishment.

Free health screenings. Mental health care. Maternity services. As Republican Medicaid cuts kick in, Kentucky hospital leaders say these will be the first services Kentuckians lose.

Not a single Democrat in Congress voted for this. But our KY GOP congressmen did.

Hemp is an important Kentucky industry that deserves state-level regulation, not a federal ban.

Governor @andybeshearky.bsky.social knows that we can protect people while supporting our farmers. Republicans in Congress would rather destroy what Kentucky built.

So, he guts the Department of Education, ends programs that help kids gain skills after high school... and then says Americans aren't worth hiring.

In Trump's vision for the future, we all work for minimum wage.

Despite a massive cover-up campaign from the President and Republican leadership, we finally voted to release the Epstein files.

These victims deserve justice and the American people deserve the truth.

Trump could have released the Epstein files. Instead, he stonewalled for months. Today, Democrats forced the vote.

The American people, and the victims, deserve the truth, not a cover up.

Governor @andybeshearky.bsky.social said it best: "There were two losers coming out of the shutdown."

Congressional Republicans who refused to protect health care and Trump, who let people go hungry for political leverage for the first time in US history.
Beshear: President Trump was a 'loser' in the government shutdown
"No one wins a shutdown, but I believe that there were two losers coming out of the shutdown," Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said.

Some good news this Friday.

Thank you Gov. @andybeshearky.bsky.social and Team Kentucky for working extra hard to process these benefits so Kentuckians have enough food on the table.
Great news, Kentucky – we’ve finally received the go-ahead to fully fund SNAP benefits for Kentuckians who rely on this assistance. Once again, our team will work through the night tonight, with the hope our families can see those benefits hit cards tomorrow. 1/2
