It was on the short-lived "Health Information Network" which was delivered using ITT-Dialcom's text-based dialup timesharing system. We shipped VT-100 terminals to subscribers, mostly doctors. CDC would fax us a copy of MMWR a day in advance and we had to type the text into the system by hand.

Scam calls always spike in the fall. Remember, legitimate callers won't:

-Threaten to report you to law enforcement
-Get defensive about the call's legitimacy
-Hang up when you ask for a supervisor
-Ask for your SSN

If you EVER don't like the vibe, just bail. If it's real, they'll call back.

I watched a video (maybe reenactment) of one of these where someone would call and get very aggressive demanding info until they got some of what they needed, hang up, and call right back calmly "from the bank" to help the victim.
