I've been in the AI world for like two years now and I am continuously amazed by how many problems are no longer technical problems.

The bigger cost of implementing automation is fine and institutional inertia.

Damn GitHub is still having trouble. Maybe they should run some copilot on it.

Jupyter and IPython are NOT in the epstein files.

This notebook, however, has seen things.

Ready the PR cannon. Branches standing by. Awaiting further instruction from @github.com

I just made a sidecar viewer of output you can run in jupyter console or even a regular ipython terminal to get rich interactives without a notebook.

pip install runtimed

import runtimed
runtimed.sidecar()

San Diego Unified School District has quietly embarked on a massive program to build educator housing.

The focus has been on maximizing the number of units affordable to staff, not on deepest means-tested affordability.

My theory here is the major labs have done very little or no RLHF on visual explanations and diagrams? Seems like a blind spot. Image generation alone or text generation alone are very well optimised but the combination seems uniquely hard for current models.

Finally tried out PyO3 for python <> rust bindings with async/await support. Not sure what the best patterns are but it's way easier than I expected.

planting 40 million merkle search trees, in 20 years we'll have a whole lot of merkle search forests

we can log the merkle search forests for merkle search timber which we will then use to construct a merkle search floating city

The biggest thing I've always wanted fixed in Jupyter is the ability to close a tab and see the results after. Long running spark job, training a model, or just a dumb sleep.

I saw this tweet about @livestore.dev and it made me realize that @schickling.dev built exactly the library I need to make realtime notebooks with modern agentic plumbing. More 📘 below ⬇️

Glad @anthropic.com's Claude + @zed.dev don't hold back from a little bit of cursing even if it had to quote my speech.

Every cute little business district needs to subsidize its cute little bookstores. If rents go up and it gets priced out in favor of yet another restaurant the appeal of the whole neighborhood drops precipitously. Dinner dates need walking destinations nearby that aren't just food.
