It may be Mardi Gras in New Orleans, but in Elmwood it’s MOVIE GRAS! I know nothing about Nirvanna The Band The Show, but the kids are EXTREMELY excited. They tend to have excellent taste so I’m also excited. Let’s go!

My daughter said she wanted to see two movies at two different theaters on the same day. I, of course, said no problem. Knocking out one of the Best Animated Features nominees, Arco, at Canal Place later but first up is The Lego Movie in 3D. Everything is AWESOME!

My mom would’ve been 80 years old today. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. This is a photo from a modeling gig she did back in the day. She loved showing me this and saying “I used to be hot stuff!” Time has healed a lot of the pain but I still miss her very much. Love you, mom!

We saw this at Target last night and had to laugh. My daughter begins work as a therapist next week and I couldn’t be more proud. Her innate empathy is something the world could really use right now and seeing her go out into the world to help people gives me hope for the future.

2025 was nothing if not eventful. I started the year as a resident of New Orleans and ended it as a resident of Old Jefferson. Peyton got her Master’s Degree. Jackson graduates in May. Played a ton of shows. Saw a LOT of movies. Grateful for all of it. Happy New Year!🎆

For the final event of my birthday evening we have a new-ish tradition of watching a movie of the birthday person’s choosing. This year I picked Parasite, as neither Peyton or Jackson have seen it yet. They are in for a WILD ride.

Another successful drop-off in the books! For Peyton, it’s bittersweet as this was her last ever break before getting her Master’s Degree in a few weeks and entering the dreaded “real world” (cue Matchbox 20) and Jackson finishes his Bachelor’s in May. Tempus fugit!
