I just had a frozen yogurt bar that was so brutally disappointing on every level, I feel like a crime has been committed upon my person

Why do so many online yoga instructors have a depressing array of sparse houseplants arranged on and around a rickety stand in the background

I think I’ll post about this every six months or so until I die.

One time a friend of my in-laws reached out to me to see if I would (mis)use my educator discount to get his club a reduced price version of Microsoft Office.

The club in question being the Porsche Owners Club

(I declined)

After an urgent care vet visit this week and we wait for an opening for a more thorough diagnostic exam at our regular vet, I can’t tell if Julius is still a little fragile or if he’s just milking it for all the churu treats

I don’t know how big of a sacrifice it is (I work for Vice Provosts and I see the admin headaches so I sometimes wonder how much they secretly yearn to return to the faculty). But definitely think he regained some autonomy & academic freedom via this move.

Right?

Fortunately my guest was the architect I married, and he used the nice printing he learned in school to make us two nice name tags with the blanks they shoved our way.

I showed up to my service award ceremony today and they didn’t have my name tag or that of my guest, and the table staff’s first guess was that “somebody took them by accident”

I don’t think name tags are like identical luggage on the baggage carousel—you tend to get it right when you grab one.

Thanks. I’ve got a library of stuff on college costs but it’s all at work (and I was off today). It would be interesting to see if AI pulls from similar sources and scholars.

Professors so woke they’ll brainwash anyone who so much as wanders into the same ZIP Code as the university, will no one think of the children

I want to thank the State of Michigan for finalizing the higher ed budget so I can shift my full focus on the ulcer-inducing worry over potential federal threats.

Yes, I was super excited on a visit to Berkeley one time that coincided with a herd brought in to campus! Around here, they’re more focused on controlling invasives, I had overlooked the fact that there are fire safety benefits!

Fine. I hope I’m allowed to have a slightly different take on it. My copy of Feldman & Archibald is as well-thumbed as anyone else’s.

Sounds like we are both hoping for better outcomes for young people.

I was hoping the first post would explain why the the goat had firefighting duties to return to

OK, well you’re gonna think I’m really original then for coming up with this, but maybe Miss Johnson keeps slipping little allergy-ridden Timmy some peanut butter because she has a major crush on the ambulance medic who came during that first August call but doesn’t know what shift he works

I think a decent quality recliner is what you need, based on friends who had shoulder surgery, and I’d go electric so it’s very adjustable.

The problem is, you will get addicted to that comfort and you’ll be stuck buying only reclining furniture for your living/family room for the rest of time.

Forget net tuition, consider debt. When media says avg student loan debt is $40K w/ no footnote then the kid whose aid offer puts her $35K in debt for her BA thinks she got a good deal.

Avg *undergrad* loan debt is $26K, but that isn’t clickbaity enough, I guess.

That is what I’m calling out.

I think we’re largely aligned, but I think the article missed the mark, and I still uphold net cost as important. I had a teenager, I’ve spent years gnashing my teeth about MI’s approach to education, etc

changing consumer knowledge about college costs is a heavy lift but it’s worth pursuing

I think this is what I’m saying. I agree it can be predatory, and I’d like to see it changed. Schools with generous aid/zero loan guarantees exist but tend to be selective. I want to see this more places, and we won’t get there if colleges can meet enrollment goals with lousy aid.

I don’t know if this will apply to you or not, but over time I’m finding most Earl Gray is not Earl Grey enough and I’m starting to get picky about brands

A year from now I’ll be sourcing bergamot oil on the black market and meeting shady strangers in dark alleys behind local tearooms

look, I know you’re desperate to get out of the burden of handholding me through MASU academic program review during my first year shepherding this process on our campus, but I never dreamed you’d go corporate to make it happen

I found this at the Evans terminal at DTW. It dispensed a poem rather than a short story, but I still left a satisfied customer.
A tall stand in an airport corridor with signage to let patrons know that if they push a button, it will spit out a free short story on recycled paper for their enjoyment

I don’t follow things super closely because I trust my guy (with my paltry “fortune” ha ha) but I just went to look and wow I am not much in stocks anymore.
