I got the Voter's Guide simply so I could read the statements against.

There weren't any.

There is controversy in his case. In my opinion, his writings suggest that yes, despite his claims to the contrary, he was a true believer. Who he worked with isn't all that informative: Wagner directed Mendelssohn in performance, after all.

The only way to survive that is to draw a clear line where you say "I am more than happy to explain to you, the audience, just how foul the composer was, if you want me to. I will take on the moral burden of promulgating their work. But I will not deny their contributions to my cultural heritage."

And this is much worse than 'Can I read Rowling near my trans children?' (Ans. "No, but they would let me if I really wanted to." by the way.) This is "Will I dedicate days if not weeks of my life to perfecting something composed by someone I would spit on in the street."

Western classical musicians have been struggling with this for (literally) centuries. Beethoven? Drove his nephew to suicide. Wagner? There is nothing vile that wasn't true of the man. Richard Strauss? Avid Nazi. You want it? We got it, and we gotta live with it.

Even better: they radiate almost entirely in the UV. I wouldn't be surprised if you could you could sunbathe by the light of a proper WR star at the distance of a light year.

A white bed sheet and some water and you could reenact one of the greatest locked-door mysteries in history.

I wish you were right, and every member of my family will phone bank for any reasonable Democrat available her. I don't think you are.

Sorry, not southeast; southwest. I've lived here for thirty years now, and I still think "The ocean is east of here." She represents the area around Vancouver, just north of Portland.

Sadly, noone will primary Marie Gluesenkamp Perez...because noone should. MGP holds a seat in an at-best-marginally Republican district in Southeast Washington State, and although she is mostly a solid Dem, she'd lose her seat if she voted against ICE.

While you're at it, read _The Rights of Man_ and _The Age of Reason_. As a prominent skeptic, you'll find the latter fun, if not informative. I picked up a set of the Complete Works a couple of years ago; you can get one for cheap.

I could honestly care less.

Much less.

Yes, we probably say a bunch of words differently. Possibly 'probably'.

But it's only 4-7-5. You need one more syllable in the first line.

I got a small piece of glass embedded in my left middle finger rolling my car off a 30' cliff.

For clarity, I'm not making the stupid empiricist's argument. I believe that you have a theory of self, and that you are capable of multilevel planning -- all those things people do, and LLM's will never do. I'm suggesting that it might not matter.
December 30, 2025 at 8:36 PM
What do you think you are? Not *who* do you think you are, *what* do you think you are? Unless you argue that there is some extra-corporeal soul which makes you qualitatively non-physical, how are you truly different from an LLM?

It looks more like an intero-gar to me
December 16, 2025 at 12:09 AM
How do you suggest handling the 0 / 0 edge case?
December 10, 2025 at 9:10 PM
Those wouldn't be in timezones, though. They'd be in rosemaryzones, sagezones, or parsleyzones.

None of these is a true statement, by the way. Most people have been taught that they're bad at math and that it's very hard. They're usually wrong on both points.

As to being very smart: have you ever looked at the job market in math? Particularly in descriptive set theory?
December 1, 2025 at 10:10 PM
Not a question, but the almost universal response is "Oh, I'm bad at math. It's so hard."

(Followed sometimes by "You must be very smart.")

Pretty mulch.

NOMS. Spruce needle tea!

(Another failure of pervasive messaging: the stuff's foul.)
