The residential schools were terrible too. Even way later when these colonizers arrived in Alaska. My mother, aunties, & uncles all suffered greatly. Most the abuse they could never even talk about. This is why I have to relearn my language and culture today. Both critically endangered.

People celebrate the fact that pilgrims and natives ate together because the Natives fed them….

Never mind the fact that the Native people were killed after that with things like small pox blankets.

That’s why the holiday is gross. Most people don’t know the truth of thanksgiving in America.

It was originally for natives since this was our land. It would be too hard to secure so they made it for all Alaskans. It’s our mineral rights or something. A few years ago they had a plan to steal our money to pay for things like road services etc. they give themselves raises and steal our pfd 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s up to the state to fund food stamps anyway. You know it’s crazy because if the state didn’t steal over $2,000 from each eligible Alaskan resident- everyone would have money to buy food/pay bills. Maybe governor Dunlevy and Alaskan senators, legislators should give us the money they stole

The irony of the gov shutdown and failure to provide food stamps right before ‘thanksgiving” should not be lost on anyone. A holiday that celebrates the genocide of indigenous people in North America won’t be celebrated by the poorest among us because our gov needed a ballroom & are protecting pedos
