Autistic cat parent and ska enjoyer, among other things. ☸️🇵🇸🪬
I refuse to get excited about TV or movies anymore so that I may actually enjoy it when I get around to seeing it. Shifting my expectations to zero has made me a lot happier a person overall, because life is a series of pleasant surprises instead of disappointments.

Mae is making some for Thanksgiving so definitely ask her!

Growing up in a religiously diverse family, I will never be able to wrap my mind around bigotry based on religion. My immediate family is five people of five different religions. I am a Buddhist married to a pagan, and my dad was a German Catholic married to a Scottish Presbyterian.

Ask not what you would do for a Klondike Bar, ask what a Klondike Bar would do for you.

Going to give this BlueSky thing a try again. Hello, I’m Emm or Matty. My current special interests are ska music, and religious studies (especially the history and archeology behind religion.) I’m a Buddhist. I love cats. I’m autistic. Uhh… yeah. Hello.

"Either you vote for us to bomb you or the other guy will bomb you" was such an amazing campaign strategy.

Can't imagine how they lost running with that strategy.

I know who’s to blame for the election! One of the most vulnerable minority groups! It’s definitely them because of their problems! How dare they not accept their quiet deaths and blue no matter whoed. I will now say things about them that are horrifically bigoted but it’s okay they’re the bad ones

Finally got around to watching the first season of Andor and holy crap… that’s some good shit.

I want to play Baldur’s Gate 3 again, but I bought it on PC and no longer have one. I just can’t afford to drop $70 on a game twice. Heck, that’s only the second game I have paid full price on in the last five years.

“This weed isn’t working today.” *Has the most batshit crazy thought* “Oh never mind.”

They don’t care about disabled people, but they’ve been conditioned to care about veterans because that conditioning means more bodies to send off to die somewhere.

When I was a kid I thought “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” was a garbage song because literally everyone has seen rain. I was five. I also thought “Splish Splash” was musical genius, though.

Now that I think about it I’m pretty sure Apu from the Simpsons made me look up Ganesha? And that got me looking up Hinduism, etc.

shy, but loved to learn. I was also like an eighth of a mile from my local library, so I’d waddle up there and look up stuff in the card catalog or encyclopedias if I’d heard it mentioned on TV or mentioned by grown ups and was too shy to just ask. (2/2)

Something that is weird about me, but nonetheless true, I knew of the swastika as an eastern religious symbol first. We learned about World War II in junior high, but I was obsessed with encyclopedias as a kid and had seen it when I looked up Hinduism. I grew up as an introvert who was too (1/2)

Looking forward to my therapist coming back from maternal leave. Not because I’m struggling, but because I’m doing pretty well and want to humble brag a little.

It shows that the Constitution was never worth the paper it was printed on if the people in power can just ignore it and nothing actually happens. We’ve been conditioned to believe resistance is unpatriotic, somehow.

I didn’t know Bandcamp had like… merch that wasn’t the music. I don’t buy merch a lot to explain my ignorance 😅 Trying to do the Buddhist moderation thing and not collect anything anymore. I do, however, need clothes sometimes, so that works out!

The whole “no algorithm telling you what to see” thing here is nice, but I would like a mode where I can just see like the original thoughts of people I follow and not just repost after repost.

I’ve looked into this and I’m one generation too far removed from claiming any of these ancestral places as citizenships. Maybe if I write a really nice letter to the mayor of Pamplona explaining that the King of Navarre was an ancestor of mine they could pull a string or two.

Genuinely wish I had citizenship in another country that I could leave to. Wish my family had stayed in France, Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Scotland right about now. Any of them would do. I’d even learn Dutch if I had to.

I’ll never make it on this app because I only remember to post first thing in the morning when all the cool people in the western hemisphere are asleep and all the Europeans are still at work.
