Hello! I'm Chris. My post splits here are probably 65/30/5 for videogames/music/other.

I play an even split of retro and modern games, lately with a lean towards JRPGs, platformers, and Metroidvanias. Nintendo and PS, mostly.

My musical tastes mostly fit neatly under the indie rock genre.

Roll credits on Saga of the Moon Priestess #PS5

What a fun 2D Zelda clone. It streamlines so many familiar aspects of the genre into five 15-30 minute dungeons. Not perfect, but boy does this hit so many of the notes you want it to!!

Currently $3 on PSN, an absolute steal.

Raystorm #PS1

Been playing this lately. It's mostly quite good but has annoying spots where you can't tell if an enemy is on your level or not so you will run into them without knowing it was possible.

Simple two weapon + special combat with a pile of continues to try to get through 7 levels.

I finally played this with the remaster. It's amazing! Really hits the mark for updating the core aspects of the original trilogy.

They are 5 for 5 with the DKC series IMO.

Interesting! I thought I saw some difficulty settings in the menus, maybe I'll see what's there and turn it down a bit.

I can get to the last stage but it's pretty tough, will take a lot of practice to get there with enough lives to make it through.

I'm fairly new to SHMUPS so I'm learning what I like. I'd put this below Super R-Type and Einhander among those I've spent decent time with. The lack of weapon variety and running into things are my big downsides.

At least they give you 28 lives to try to get through.

Delita and Argath talk a big game and take up much of the story in the first bit of Final Fantasy Tactics.

When the fights start they're out there using Rush and Throw Stone attacks and dying on the first turn. My level 3 Chemist is more dangerous than they are.

Playing optional battles on the same two stages in Final Fantasy Tactics so I can unlock fun job related stuff.

I think I've only done 4 story battles.

I missed out on a lot of the job fun on my PS1 playthrough, I'm going to take my time here.

3. Blue Jays
4. Brewers
5. Whatever

Finally made it past the third area in Returnal. #PS5

I went through both of the first two levels thoroughly to get powered up enough. I think that boss mostly comes down to having the right weapon.

Curious where it goes from here

I made a full pass at each level in Crash 2 trying to get everything I could without using a guide. I ended at 81%. I assume the rest can only be achieved through finding the right order of gems and secret exits.
