A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

I don't always reply to the pitches I receive from publicists (because I have a job that I do and if I did, I would never get to do my job). But here is a tip for aspiring publicists: Critics do not "write a Rotten Tomatoes review." No critics do this.

Bad Bunny “is probably the most important musician in the world right now—the person future generations will point to when they talk about what the early 2020s sounded like,” Kelefa Sanneh writes.

The Latin-trap performer is probably the most important pop musician of our time. Key to his success is that the bigger he gets, the more local he seems.

Been in Los Angeles less than 24 hours and six people have asked if I’ve seen One Battle After Another and my response is “I’m on book tour. My life is one battle after another.”

Anyways. I’m talking with my king of LA @specktor.bsky.social, at Skylight tonight. I’m so psyched.

with the new ikwydls movie out i revisited my interview with jennifer love hewitt from 2021 for @vulture.com where we talked about the 20th anniversary of heartbreakers but also the objectification of her body during that time which is unfortunately still relevant

One thing you can do Right Now is be extremely vocal when you have librarians stocking inclusive collections. Call and tell them how happy you are, show up to board meetings. Bc the other side is *always* complaining and doing it in an organized way.

also you can donate to Lavonnia Moore here:

You’re never going to be a millionaire or billionaire, so why do people keep voting as if they’ll ever be part of the one percent? They’ll never feel a raise in their taxes. But you will feel the loss of Medicare, SS, cost of living, literally everything! You will feel it.

Positive Reinforcement cover art!!! I’m wearing a cardigan with another cardigan draped over my shoulders. My name and the title are kind of styled like the Big Lebowski opening titles!
clearblue really hit my younger self hard. lorde really made an anthem for the girls who've taken pregnancy tests & experienced the crippling fear of losing your autonomy & the inexplicable liberation and relief when the result is negative
you could be a bestselling author, writer, editor with a ton of success and clips and still be unemployed at this juncture bc media is in such trouble
