I’ve finally had a chance to settle in and explore #HeslingtonHall. Turns out the #gardens are quite magical. It almost feels as if walking through the #TopiaryGarden could take one into another century…

While in #Thornton this weekend to attend the #TheBrontëSociety AGM, I paid my first visit to the #BrontëBirthplace and had the magical experience of spending the weekend sleeping in the room where the #BrontëSisters slept as small children, and exploring the house in which they were born.

Wasn’t this exhibit fabulous? There was so much to take in I wish I could go again!

The diaeresis on the Brontë sisters’ monument in Poets Corner at Westminster Abbey was only just added last year after Sharon Wright’s advocacy. Perhaps a similar request should be made to amend this marker!

It’s a delight to be in #Thornton this weekend to attend a #BrontëSociety AGM in person for the first time!
This morning I visited the #OldBellChapel where #PatrickBrontë was the parson from 1815-1820, during which time Charlotte, Branwell, Emily, and Anne were born.

Congress told us to “Go Fund Yourself.”
And with your help, we can.

Our federal funding might be gone, but we’re still here. Public media needs your support now more than ever.
A sleek GBH-branded graphic composed of deep blues and purples is displayed on the GBH mural. It reads "Congress told us to 'Go Fund Yourself.' And with your help, we can."

Thank you! Let me know if you need to make a research trip over here and at any point and we can make some excursions together 😊

It’s easy to see why the #BrontëSisters were inspired by the landscape around #Haworth.
Although I didn’t have time for the long walk out to Top Withins that I enjoyed on my last visit, even this short walk around #ParsonsField inspires reverence for the peaceful majesty of the #moors.

It was glorious to be able to spend the afternoon at the #BronteParsonageMuseum.
Special joys were seeing #CharlotteBronte’s “Thackeray Dress” in person again (the last time I saw it was at #TheMorganLibrary ten years ago), and to see Branwell’s portrait of #EmilyBronte back home at the Parsonage.

It is thrilling to be back in #Haworth for the inspiring #BrontëWomen’sWritingFestival.
The town is always atmospheric, but the shops and cafes on Main Street really seem to have pulled out all the stops this year to look #festive for #autumn/ #SpookySeason, and I am LOVING it!

I don’t think I will ever tire of these views from the York City Wall. There are so many layers of history and stories to explore in every direction.

Publishing today!
You may have thought Jane Austen was a quiet spinster, but Devoney puts that myth to rest.
@devoney.bsky.social's book is an entertaining look at Jane Austen's life, writing & legacy.
Filled with remarkable details never before published, ‘Wild for Austen’ is out now. #booksky

#YorkMansionHouse house was built for the Lord Mayor of York between 1725 and 1732, making it a perfect setting for the #GeorgianDance dance lesson I attended there this evening!
These pictures are of the State Room (where we danced), the staircase, the Dining Room, and a view of St. Helen’s Square.

A magical afternoon exploring #ScarboroughCastle. With its #history and its views of the #sea, I have rarely been anywhere as aweinspiring.
There is evidence of people having lived on this spot for nearly 3,000 years, and construction was started on the #Castle in around 1138.

Today I made a pilgrimage to #Scarborough to see the spot where #AnneBrontë spent her final days, and to visit Anne’s grave.
It was as beautiful a spot above the #sea as I had always imagined, and I could see why the expansive view out over the ocean in Scarborough was so special to Anne.

I stumbled across this #HistoricalMarker as I was running errands yesterday.
Today, I have dropped everything to take advantage of the (temporarily) fine weather and go on a day trip. Knowing why Charlotte and Anne #Brontë stayed in #York in 1849, I’m sure many of you can guess where I’m headed…

Thank YOU! It was fascinating to explore the Hall, and I love the ghosts in the garden.

Having enjoyed their social media posts for so long, it was a thrill to be walking down the street and recognize @merchantshallyork.org!
This 600-year-old #GuildHall was fascinating to explore.
Pictured here are the exterior, the #GreatHall, a #StainedGlass window in the #Undercroft, and the garden.
