I think of the "blue no matter who" crowd as the actual voters, and I thought they DID rally behind Mamdani (who ran as a Dem). What is laid bare is that certain Dem leaders don't care about what the voters want and so should be ousted as leaders.

A friend was taking her cat to the vet in a carrier on the front passenger seat. It was hot (Texas hot), and she had the car windows down. At an intersection, someone reached in and TOOK THE CAT. IN THE CARRIER. And ran away. And she never saw her cat again. I nearly lost my mind when I heard this.

worth applying to politics as well. when you're criticizing an action people take "taking the better action next time" is only one of the alternatives people will consider, and worth remembering that "not bothering at all" is another.

There were people in costume at our fairly safe and relatively small rally, and I was glad to see them. It's an homage. We're grateful to the people who are facing more risk. Sorry we couldn't all get in front of a bunch of ICE chuds--better luck next time?
