My spare time is spent dabbling with the history of East Stirlingshire FC. Posts here will mainly be random gems from the club's history.

18/10/25 v University of Stirling (a) Lowland League
15/10/25 v Tranent (h) Lowland League
10/10/25 v Greenock Juniors (h) South Region Challenge Cup 3rd Round
from the left post. The ball then came back to Hislop and he took it forward to the left goal line before sending a low square pass to Dowie, who was unmarked in the centre 2 yards out. Dowie didn’t connect properly with the ball but reacted 1st on the ground before Gear to hit the ball into the top
90+2: ‘Shire 4 Cowdenbeath 1. ‘Shire broke up the left wing through Kenzie Mitchell and when he had nearly reached the goal line he cut the ball back low to Hislop, who was inside the left of the box. Hislop then hit a low 1st time 15 yard shot which was blocked by right foot of McLean 7 yards out
It has been brought to my attention that I was missing the bottom of the summary which detailed 'Shire's 4th goal (the 2nd photo was covering it). So, here is the missing part of the summary:
4/10/25 v Cowdenbeath (a) Lowland League

I unexpectedly missed this match due to a family matter so I have had to pull this together from various sources. I don't have timings for some of the team chances and have therefore recorded then in the report as ?
27/9/25 v Newtongrange Star (a) Scottish Cup 1st Round
Personally today's tie will be my 68th 'Shire Scottish Cup match and 65th in a row (a run which stretches all the way back to 1990) which works out at 27% of all our all out ties ever. I imagine 1 or 2 other 'Shire fans will have seen a few more.
It is Scottish Cup 1st Round Day ! A special one for all fans at this level. East Stirlingshire today travel to Newtongrange Star for a 1st ever competitive meeting between the clubs. It will be our 249th @ScottishCup tie and 36th against teams from the East of the country.
19/9/25 v Linlithgow Rose (h) Lowland League
13/9/25 v Dalbeattie Star (h) South Region Challenge Cup 2nd Round
With today's cup match in mind my thoughts turned to the only previous meeting of East Stirlingshire and Dalbeattie Star in Cup competition which took place in the 1998/99 Scottish Cup. I remember the match well, especially leaping about when Scott "Action Man" Walker scored his 2nd.
6/9/25 v Broxburn Athletic (a) Lowland League
2/9/25 v Tranent (a) Lowland League
After East Stirlingshire's last kick of the ball defeat last night I thought I would have look into all these last minute and later goals which have changed the results in the Lowland League this season. It makes interesting reading.
30/8/25 v Gala Fairydean Rovers (a) Lowland League
matches and the win yesterday was only our 3rd ever competitive away win by that scoreline. The 1st took place on 24/9/1882 in the Scottish Cup Preliminary 1st Round at Vale of Leven and the 2nd was as far back as 12/1/1946 at Montrose in the Eastern League – 2nd Series.
Yesterday’s fantastic 6-3 win away to Gala Fairydean Rovers got me thinking about previous wins we have had by the same scoreline. It turns out it is a rare beast with only twelve 6-3 wins in our recorded history of 5945 matches since 1880.

Of these twelve 6-3 wins only 9 were in competitive

16/8/25 v Cumbernauld Colts (h) Lowland League
9/8/25 v Berwick Rangers (a) Lowland League
1/8/25 v Bo'ness United (h) Lowland League
