Included with the class are 2 skeins of sustainable, American grown Shaniko Superwash Wool. You are welcome to bring additional wool yarn or spinning fiber. I have a new scarf out in Little Looms Magazine! It is my tribute to my beautiful Katsura trees.

The yarn is Spincycle Dyed in the Wool color Salty Dog for the yellow. The purple is Spinster's Daughter Sport in color Sinopah. 🧶
I have a new scarf out in Little Looms! It is my tribute to my beautiful Katsura trees. Before moving to Washington I hadn’t seen a Katsura tree before. Our new house has 2, plus we planted 2 more after that. They are a beautiful tree that start with purple buds in the winter and spring. The buds transition to lime green heart shaped leaves in the spring, that then darken into green as spring transitions to summer. In the fall all of it turns to a golden yellow and the whole thing starts all over again. The scarf also starts with the purple buds patterned against starry leaves that transition into stripes that represent the trunk of the tree. The yarn is Spincycle Dyed in the Wool color Salty Dog for the yellow. I love that it is yellow and green with a bit of orange, which is just perfect for leaves. July marks @knotanotherhat’s 20th Anniversary!!! I met Sarah, the incredibly talented Owner and all around awesome person, roughly a month after she opened the store in Hood River, Oregon. Color of the Week: Sunburnt Penguin

At my last Frame Loom Tapestry class. I taught two new weavers how to use the frame loom. I’m so excited for these brand new weavers! My next class is this Friday, April 18th and we have added a new date for Friday, May 30th! All levels welcome! All tools and materials included for use during class!
At my last Frame Loom Tapestry class (#clearcreekfarmduvall) I taught two new weavers how to use the frame loom. I’m so excited for these brand new weavers! We threaded the loom and experimented with different weaving techniques. I love how each weaver took a different approach to their weaving and how each one chose different techniques to experiment with. As promised, I have a brand new yarn to share with you! Mosaic Bulky is 86% wool with a 14% nylon/poly binder thread. It is so squishy and soft! I want to make a sweater out of it. I think a fun scarf pattern would be excellent as well. Needles #9-11US. Sett suggestion of 8. Hook size J-L. 🧶

The color is Columbia River Remix. It is a blend blue, green, and brown, which feels just like visiting the Columbia River.

March always has the most wild weather including potential flooding and thunderstorms. The Snoqualmie floods regularly around here. We are on high ground, so other than traffic jams we have it pretty easy. As annoying as it can be I also find a certain amount of peace being stuck in traffic on a bridge beside what used to be a pasture and now is temporary wetland habitat for many types of birds. I often see Bald Eagles, ducks, geese, swans, and many more. Maybe all that slowing down is for the best. This color reminds me of the Columbia River, the river of my childhood. It also makes me think of the Snoqualmie, which is the river I’m near now. This yarn is called Columbia River Remix. One of my first colorways was called Columbia River. It had sections of blue, green, and brown. I thought it would be fun to blend the colors together and I was so happy the result, which feels just like visiting the Columbia River. I had a lot of fun last week teaching a workshop last week on Visible Mending to the Seaview guild. We talked about different ways to patch items and how to use reverse applique to fix items with holes. Then a little mending of knitwear. One of the members even tried reverse applique using paper, which turned out really cool. Always a pleasure to teach this group! This yarn is called Seattle Sky. It may be grey in Seattle, but when the sun comes out the sky is a beautiful aquamarine that is appreciated more because of its rarity. 🧶
Color of the Week: Seattle Sky I have been told that this isn’t the color of the Seattle Sky, that it would be grey, but I respectfully disagree. When we get clear skies here it just fills my heart with joy and it is a clear and magnificent aqua blue that just shouts to be celebrated! So, during those long grey days I dye this yarn to remind myself that the sun will come out once again. PS. If you really love those moody greys, I also have a color called Winter Storm for those grey days. This yarn is called Seattle Sky.
