The internet stranger. Very strange! Dad, husband, reader, developer, gamer.

I'm not going to be on one subject. Pro-ethical-AI, which means anti- most current LLM implementations. There are no silver bullets.

Can someone tell me how to relax again, please? I'm so stressed right now, and I shouldn't be. I can't switch off, I can't even game any more - went for a replay of Arkham Asylum and I couldn't get into it, just felt hollow. I mean, that's a top-10 game!

I'm not American, but I sure hope you guys sort this shit out, because where America goes, the UK goes in a couple of decades or less, and I really don't want to change all... [Stoic to Hiccup] this.

It's nearly the new year. I've got a job, starting on the 5th! Yay! I've busted my knee, because you can't have something good without experiencing something bad...

I'm so tired.

And we're going to a new year's eve party where everyone is expected to stay up. Did I mention I was tired?

Why can I not do things? I want to play a bit of gaming. I've got a good half an hour, maybe an hour. I've no real other plans. Instead... I'm posting on Bsky, which I've no real desire to do. I'm browsing the web.

I just... hate my brain sometimes. It's stupid and annoying.

2 Billion FPS. Light propagation speed affecting the actual result that you see (literally, you can see parts of the beam appear before other parts because they had a shorter path to the camera to travel, so 'overtook' the other parts). Fascinating - watch it!
A laser pointer at 2 billion fps makes the speed of light look... kinda weird

People trust computers. Don't ask me why, they're programmed by people, and people are idiots. But when 45% of output is misrepresenting the source material somehow...

That trust is dangerous.

A beautiful, balanced take on the harmfulness of AI, and how even though it's harmful, in the right ways it can be useful - if you can Centaur it. Cory Doctorow, the creator of the word, "Enshittification", demonstrating his peculiar talent for wordsmithery.

Applying for jobs is such a ball-ache. So many places to keep track of, so many recruiters who never respond, so many who waste your time, the few good ones are worth their weight in gold.

How does someone with no posts, no replies and no reposts get 500 followers?

The social media is a lie. There are few out there who are real. Enjoy them while you can, they're going to be drowned in AI slop soon.

Why it’s a mistake to ask chatbots about their mistakes
The tendency to ask AI bots to explain themselves reveals widespread misconceptions about how they work.
