Congratulations to Toby! I ended up foster failing with my Lost Dog cat because I realized I would be devastated when someone adopted her.

Will you be getting another foster?

I fell asleep on the couch for a couple of hours in a slightly different position than I normally do in bed and now my hip hurts. :(

Oh, this is such unhappy news. Fly free, Charlie Brown. The loss of a fur kid is a sadness that envelopes one's soul in a way unlike any other. My deepest condolences.

Right? There was a movement to deny the Eucharist to President Biden and members of Congress, just for being pro-choice.

But supporting mass deportations? Crickets.

1. Who were the 5 opposed to this, and 3 abstaining bishops?

2. Did the Holy Father read them the riot act, because this special message should have been issued months ago.

The polls don't close for another few hours, but I'm already feeling antsy. I need to know people are putting their money (votes) where their mouth is, and condemning this shit we've been subjected to since January. We protested; now we vote.

My red hometown in deep red South Carolina had at least 2000 joyful, peaceful protestors today. I am so fucking proud of every one of them. Fight the good fight, friends!

I am proud of many of my fellow Americans today. We are freedom. #nokings

I have yet to be inspired to resubscribe to my hometown paper of record.

Parking is terrible, but the pie is so good! I usually walk from Ballston, which also helps for the "exercise deserves pie" rationale.

That's fair. I would always put provisions for my pet in my will, but still, they will need someone to look out for them.

I find fostering hard because I very easily become invested, but it is a noble calling, giving animals a soft place to land before finding their families.

On the other hand, this girl needs to be an only child and she has some food sensitivities. These things unfortunately make her harder to adopt out. Also, she is no longer a kitten. Sad, but that's how it goes. If she is still with me as a foster in the new year, she will likely be mine forever.

It has crossed my mind, but I allowed myself to plan some bucket list travel before committing to another cat. I will be taking some pretty substantial trips over the next few months and wouldn't want to leave a cat at home alone, with just a sitter.

I have a Lost Dog foster cat that needs a home.....

I lost my soul cat last fall. He had several health issues, and I was easily spending $10k+ on him every year. He was in the middle of a $20k brain tumor treatment when he died. I had a second job in retail to help pay.

Since I spoke French, I was told during my Peace Corps interview process that I would likely be sent to West Africa. I wonder why that was. (RPCV, Guinea)

Wait until they find out about the Jamaica-born candidate for VA Governor, named Winsome. Oh, hold on......

Uh oh. That's going to upset that subset of very conservative Catholics who live for the Latin Mass.

I read that as DCA, as in National Airport and thought they would be expected to hop on the Blue Line.

My little foster girl had to go to the vet last night. She has "fuzzy foreign material" in her stomach. Probably a big hairball. Hoping it will pass naturally with a little help and she can come home tomorrow.

What a start to a holiday weekend. Happy 4th everybody!
