Japanese is often seen as vague or indirect...
But when it comes to wearing clothes, it's more specific and precise than English.
It describes how clothing interacts with your body — a fascinating example of linguistic nuance! 7/8
💍 つける (tsukeru) – used for accessories that are attached, like jewelry or a watch.
🗣️ ブレスレットをつける (buresuretto o tsukeru) = wear a bracelet 6/8
👓 かける (kakeru) – for items that are hung or hooked onto the body, like glasses.
🗣️ メガネをかける (megane o kakeru) = wear glasses 5/8
🧢 かぶる (kaburu) – for things worn on the head, like hats.
🗣️ 帽子をかぶる (bōshi o kaburu) = wear a hat 4/8
👖👟 履く (haku) – for items worn on the lower body or feet, like pants, shoes, and socks.
🗣️ 靴を履く (kutsu o haku) = wear shoes
🗣️ 靴下を履く (kutsushita o haku) = wear socks 3/8
👕 着る (kiru) – used for clothing worn on the upper body, like shirts and jackets.
🗣️ ジャケットを着る (jaketto o kiru) = wear a jacket 2/8
Did you know Japanese has multiple verbs for "wearing" clothes? 👘🧢🥾
Unlike English, which mostly uses just "wear," Japanese verbs depend on how the item interacts with your body.
Let’s break it down 👇🧵 1/8
Os gatos brasileiros são super espertos…
7/ 🍜 You remember 「いただきます」better when you’re drooling over ramen than staring at a flashcard.

Your brain learns best in context.
Live the language. Don’t just study it.
6/ 🚫 Translation is your clingy ex.

Science shows: connecting Japanese directly to ideas (not your native language) builds fluency superhighways in your brain.

No more detours!
5/ 👅 Use all your senses:

🧠 Read it
✍️ Write it
👂 Hear it
🗣 Say it

Words you speak aloud stick 20% better than silent reading.
Your mouth is a memory booster!
4/ 💡 Vocab Hack: Spaced Repetition

Review words right before you forget them — this is the “optimal interval.”

At that moment, your brain works just hard enough to strengthen the memory. It’s science-backed efficiency!
