Is what is happening now ‘smart’? Separate issue. Hopefully they will erode the Iranian regimes danger as w/Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis. They’ve made the region safer!

Illegal war?? Iran has been threatening to destroy Israel for 45 years. ANY country is justified in defending against such a state, which also arms and finances terrorist entities aimed at them.
Your ‘exception for self-defense’ APLIES. Their weakening Iran & proxies have made the region SAFER.

That’s the whole point of anti-trust regs. At least as a byproduct of helping all consumers.
At some point, telephone, then radio, then TV accepted the need for standards. Computer data, too. Lots of other features to compete on. Price?

Give people food & housing FIRST. Money for those things. It worked!
Life-lifting, fear-reducing thing. Those people become consumers - from businesses old AND new. The $ then circulate. Relief equals stimulus.

Of course capitalism isn’t ‘fair’.
However, jobs saved/student loans/mortgage payment/emergency rents deferred, allowed x million to continue to be consumers, from an asset-holders point of view, no doubt buoying up stocks (which probly fell before the govt intervened. Lows to measure run up from?)

“No desire to right it” is far from true. Biden’s cash saved X millions jobs, bankruptcies, evictions. Did they get everything right? That would be impossible . Did some people in government have ‘no desire to fix it’? Of course.
But MANY positives.

Jobs saved or cushioned. Mortgages, student loans differed, preventing bankruptcies, foreclosures.
MAYBE the contraction of regular person wages caused much or most of this % shift.
Not defending the 1%, just always amazed how easily percentages are so often used misleadingly or just incorrectly.

Been hearing about the Deficit Crisis my whole life! There are ALWAYS Business Cycles. Yes COVID of course was a money threat. Biden injected cash into this unpredictable crisis, saving millions of jobs, mortgages; , but only to be ‘accused’ of causing inflation in 2024 election ‘analysis’

I can’t believe this post! Finding ‘longer than you think’ is ONLY 5 YEARS’ is REALLY short-term memory. ‘Big Business’ is accused of myopia But the Press is terrible too.
