Fractional software QA for growth & scaling startups! 💻

Currently building a tech/QA consultancy at QA Captain!

https://qacaptain.com/
At this point, I’m feeling antsy. Like it’s time to get back into the world.

I’ve been trying to build an independent Software Testing consulting company. It’s not as easy as I thought it’d be.

Testing software is the fun part.

What's the economic sentiment like right now in Seattle? A known tech heavy capital?

Scary, nervous, uncertain. Over 100k people are looking for work. Lots of layoffs.

‘Scariest time economically since Great Recession,’ layoffs hit struggling Seattle region
“This is kind of the scariest time economically for the Seattle region since the Great Recession in 2009," said an economic expert.

I stand for:

Kindness, empathy, compassion, decency, inclusion, diversity, equality, equity, acceptance, belonging.

This is what is right!

I saw the video. I'm f*cking angry! 🤬 I'm sad! 😥 My heart breaks! 💔

This should not be happening in America!

Stay strong Minneapolis! You are brave. You have courage! You are heros!

Unemployment in Seattle is 5.1%. This is above the nat'l average!

This is bad! I feel the pain!

This doesn't count the people who are long-term unemployed or those exhausted their benefits, so it's likely higher.

And it's getting worse! Cost of living keeps getting higher!

“QA is a bottleneck!”

Nope! This is a myth! QA doesn’t create the bottleneck — they reveal it! 👇

Hi 👋I’m putting this out there because it’s time for serendipity to help me.

I’m actively looking for immediate work in QA/software testing: contract, temp, freelance, or full‑time. 👇

I'm thinking of starting a software testing/QA focused newsletter! (Well, I've actually started)

QA is very broad & very deep in topics. I have a lot of different interests I’ll be writing about.

What areas of QA interest you?

My 2 main goals right now:

Find a job, freelance clients.
Find a safe place to live

When you have disabilities, finding a safe job & safe home is hard when so many systems are volatile towards the disabled.

He’s making a list, checking it twice.

Only twice? 🎅 Santa doesn’t make for a good software tester!

You need to do more than two passes through the test plan!

The storms we've had in WA the last 9 days & ongoing this week are legit historic in nature! I've lived in WA my entire life & I've never seen anything like this!

The bug you found that gets fixed in the code, isn’t the root cause of the bug.

It’s the choices, decisions, assumptions, processes (or lack thereof), that caused the bug in the first place.

AI responsibility. I just saw this on a websites ToS:

“We take no responsibility for, and we do not expressly or implicitly endorse, support, or guarantee the completeness, truthfulness, accuracy, acceptability, or reliability of AI Features, including, but not limited to any AI Outputs.”

Some people joke about AWS outages. Some offer virtual hugs (HugOps!).

But outages like this can cost real money and real reputation.

For Eight Sleep smart mattresses, they began to overheat and become locked into inclined positions at 2 AM!

Everyone wants great software. Few want to do what it takes to make it great.

Every user story, every feature, every integration — bugs live there.

“Good enough” is an excuse.
“No one will notice.” They do.

When the bird site exodus happened, a lot of people came to Bluesky, especially in the tech space. But it feels like engagement is lacking here.

On Threads, tons of engagement. You have 500 chars to work with, when Bluesky is 300 chars.

It'd be better if Bluesky went to 500 chars per post.

I rallied & protested at the Seattle Center! Now, seeing the videos from nationwide, I'm 🥹

Keep protesting. Keep protecting our freedoms & the Constitution! Stand strong & united against fascism!

As I'm building a software testing agency, I'm trying to build in public.

I'm looking at all things SEO to build it in from the start. When I scan the site using SEO scanners, I get a good score, so the fundamentals are there.
