Good afternoon, friends!

Like Aperture Science, I do what I must because I can -- for the good of all of us.

The difference is that my plans actually work and make people's lives better 😁

Abolish ICE is the moderate position.

I stood in solidarity with people from all walks of life today to fight the predations of ICE on #Memphis communities.

Your politicians should look like this. They should be standing with those they represent.

If they don't, demand better.

Today we mark Transgender Day of Remembrance. I always cry when the names are read, because it cuts me that our people die to transphobia -- violence, suicide, or systemic injustices.

But when we remember those no longer with us, it reminds us to fight like hell for those of us who still live.

Here's my thoughts on Flock from a few weeks ago.

The tl;dr is that ALPRs, and especially those that share data, are egregious abuses of civil liberties and need to go.
So let's talk about Flock.

Flock is a major provider of ALPR (automated license plate reader) cameras and cops use them to track people's movements. By itself, that's a problem; in Texas, for instance, they've been used to enforce their draconian anti-abortion laws

This is why, when elected to the Shelby County Commission, I will move to terminate all contracts with ALPR companies and to cut funding for any quasi-independent county office that holds such contracts or that shares ALPR data.

Flock and its ilk aren't welcome in my city.
I just wrapped up two projects with students working on automated license plate reader tech in the context of abortion and this is still more dystopian and horrific than anything we uncovered.
