The Creature is a bad guy and I think if you sympathize with him you need to reread the book.
Surprised I never read it in school but I think that was for the best, I don't think I was at a place to fully appreciate the themes of the story.
It definitely wasn't what I expected from its portrayal in contemporary culture but its themes of humanity and creating life really hit for me.
