We are the Less Survivable Cancers Taskforce, made up of:
@ActionHeartburn, @BrainTumourOrg, @GutsCharityUK, @LiverTrust, @Roy_Castle_Lung and @PancreaticCanUK.
We're delighted to see the early diagnosis of lung and oesophageal cancers prioritised as part of the forthcoming National Cancer Plan.

Late diagnosis is a big factor in making these cancers 'less survivable', so it's extremely positive to see this as a focus.

Last week, during #LessSurvivableCancersAwarenessWeek, peers from across the House of Lords backed the Rare Cancers Bill. The Bill could boost research, trials and innovation, with a national strategy. A vital step forward.

This week, we met with @jennimintomsp.bsky.social, Minister for Public Health and Women's Health, to discuss the key actions needed in Scotland to drive progress for less survivable cancers. It was great to hear the Minister's ongoing support for improving outcomes for these cancers.

On Tuesday, we held a drop-in event at the Scottish Parliament, kindly sponsored by Jackie Baillie MSP. Our message was clear: while progress has been made, research funding is needed in Scotland to #CloseTheResearchGap.

We welcome Minister @ashleydaltonmp.bsky.social remarks yesterday that less survivable cancers will be a key focus in the National Cancer Plan and that her department is considering #APPGonLessSurvivableCancers' inquiry recommendations. A positive step forward for these deadly cancers.

Article reveals the NHS failing to hit crucial cancer diagnosis and treatment time targets.

We continue to encourage the government and the NHS to put less survivable cancers at the forefront of their plans as they work to improve these wait times.
