We all want this shutdown to end. Families are stretched thin, workers are missing paychecks, and the uncertainty is real for millions of Americans. But I will be voting no on the deal the Senate is sending over to the House.
Trump is dismantling the Department of Education while our kids face the toughest learning challenges in decades. As a public school parent myself, I see what this means: fewer protections, fewer resources, fewer opportunities. He’s abandoning our students and sabotaging our future.

The Trump Administration has officially announced their disastrous plan to allow offshore drilling off the coast of California. Not only does this harm our coastal ecosystem and economy, but Californians say NO WAY. I will continue to fight this decision in every way that I can.

I never thought I’d say this: recently, I found myself agreeing on a few things with Marjorie Taylor Greene.

The House of Representatives must protect the discharge petition. These days, it is the only way popular, bipartisan bills can get a vote when a weak Speaker refuses to allow them.

Senators buried a clause in the funding bill giving themselves up to $500K of taxpayer money if investigators ever subpoena their phone records. I say hell no to this shameless self-enrichment scam.

Let me be clear: drilling off the Southern California coast must be banned entirely. It puts coastal communities at risk of toxic oil spills that decimate coastal economies, threaten human health, harm marine life, and put critical wildlife habitat at risk.

This latest report on the Trump Administration’s boat strikes is alarming. When the top lawyer warns the operations may violate U.S. and international law, you listen.

One day after the Trump family scored a contract with a Saudi developer, Trump was in the Oval Office lavishing praise on the Crown Prince. The lines are blurred between what is official U.S. government business and what is benefitting the Trump family.

I was honored to receive a Resolution of Appreciation from the North County Fire Protection District for our work to secure $7 million to build a new fire station adjacent to Camp Pendleton.

If we’re going to have a bipartisan deal on permitting, the Trump Administration must stop undermining clean energy projects. Cheap energy is clean energy.

House Democrats are speaking loudly and clearly that you can’t have real permitting reform when the President is breaking the law to block cheap, clean energy.

REMINDER: Republicans are running out of time to extend ACA premium tax credits; Southern California families are already seeing their premiums DOUBLE.

I am deeply concerned that Trump's so-called “secret deal” for peace is nothing more than selling Ukraine down the river. Ukraine was attacked. It did not start this war. It has fought for its survival as a sovereign democracy under constant attack.

Congress is back in session, which means it’s a great time to ban stock trading by Members of Congress.

Your elected officials should be focused on YOUR best interests not lining their own pockets.

After frantically trying to block the release of the Epstein files, President Trump is now trying to save face by telling Congressional Republicans to release them.

He could just tell DOJ to release the files. Instead, he's attempting to escape accountability.

Sometimes I wonder if the President knows a single person on SNAP. These are working single moms, seniors, disabled vets, and others who need the help. Stop the cruelty and carelessness.

Trump’s EPA is fine making our drinking water dirtier — exactly what the big polluters want. We must prioritize community health and safety. The EPA must reverse course.

Electricity costs are out of control. Many families are struggling to pay their bills. I’m working on the Cheap Energy Act to lower these high prices for consumers by putting hard-working families’ needs above the corporations that keep raising prices.

The motto of this Administration is “the rich get richer.” We must lower the costs of electricity, health care, and groceries that are hurting millions of Americans while Trump gives his billionaire friends tax cuts.

November is Carbon Monoxide Awareness Month. This “silent killer” can harm anyone, but CO detectors help keep us protected.

My bill with @repangiecraig.bsky.social, the Safe Stay Act, would require these detectors in hotel and motel rooms nationwide.

We owe it to ourselves—and to our Marines—to reject cheap theatrics and demand serious, fact-based conversation. We may disagree on many issues. That is democracy. But we should never allow the wellbeing of military families to become ammunition in a political argument.

If Mike Johnson were serious about stopping Republican Senators from giving themselves a million dollars each, he would have stripped the provision out of the bill yesterday and sent it back to the Senate. A promised future House vote isn’t enough. Senate Republicans will never take it up.
