“Roddy and His McDowalls”

We are joined by special guest @ryanthomasriddle.com to discuss “Short Fuse,” starring Roddy McDowall as the murderer of the week. We had a fun and extensive conversation with Ryan that even touched on the episode at times.

Columbo-speak is so nuanced. If he is looking at his notepad and says “You’ve been a big help.” it means the info you gave is good. If he is looking right at you and says “I knew you were going to be a big help to me.” then you are spending the rest of your life in prison.

Thad and Carl discuss “Suitable for Framing,” where “famous art critic” Dale Kingston murders his uncle for his art collection. We were more focused on his fashion sense, why people in the 70s all have bars in their homes, and yet another television set.

“The Nick at Nite Murder”

@tyranicus.bsky.social and @listeningtofilm.bsky.social discuss “Dead Weight,” which had some behind-the-scenes drama more interesting than the episode itself and get a bit hung up on issues related to Convoluted Body-Removal

“Any Resemblance to Steven Culp is Strictly Coincidental”

We discuss “Death Lends a Hand”, introducing another future-repeat murder: Robert Culp. We take issue with some of Columbo’s ethics this time, and we reminisce about taking our driving exams.

“Three Favorite Murders”

We kick off season 1 of Columbo with “Murder by the Book,” featuring a great first appearance by Jack Cassidy. It was also directed and written by nobodies Steven Spielberg and Steven Bochco. I wonder whatever happened to them…

“Gary Mitchell Eyes”

Join Thad and Carl as we discuss “Ransom for a Dead Man,” the second Columbo pilot. We also comment on an overuse of green in Lee Grant’s office and spend an inordinate amount of time obsessing about a television.

“Colonial Statues in an Airplane Lobby”

We’re leaving the world of spies for LA to cover “Columbo,” the TV detective who solves murders where we already know whodunnit

We begin of course with “Prescription: Murder” the 1968 TV movie that started it all

Hello all! We are a podcast by @tyranicus.bsky.social and @listeningtofilm.bsky.social that started off talking about the Bond franchise and has morphed into talking about pretty much whatever film/show we feel like. We just moved in to get away from the Bond villain knock-off on the other place.
