I’ll be sour today, and that’s okay. Tomorrow, I’ll feel the same sense of courage I felt making all three quilts I submitted to QuiltCon 2026. It’s okay to be discouraged and feel annoyed when your art is rejected by one show. However, tomorrow I’ll remember that my art is not just for QuiltCon. 😊

Adopting a Turkey is such a great way to celebrate Thanksgiving this year. Since I went vegan five years ago, it’s only a natural step to ensure at least one out of the 46 million are spared this year.
Join a Compassionate Tradition: Adopt a Turkey
Since 1986, Farm Sanctuary’s Adopt a Turkey Project has encouraged people to sponsor one of our rescued “spokesturkeys” for the holidays instead of eating one.

A few quilty pals shared a solution for doing a newsy-letter thing. Substack! It's pretty easy to use. Just sent my first letter out and feeling pretty darn proud. We test, we measure, we adjust as needed. #QuiltSky

Watching an all-Scottish edition of The Great British Bake Off set my soul right. Along with celebrating the incredible bakes of Scottish tradition, there was a heart full of homecoming to my ancestral ties. It’s time to go to the Highlands!

This Apple TV show, Pluribus, is wild! I caught up to the recent episode two days ago and have thought at least three times a day since about Carol’s next move. It’s gooooood!

Kindness is catching, and there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness in my opinion. Today is World Kindness Day. While I feel kindness can be shared daily, today’s a good day to be extra intentional.

The most recent episode of the Great British Bake Off left me in tears. I don’t think I’ve ever had a proper cry over baking! 😭

This episode and the storytelling from astrophysicist Charity Woodrum not only took my attention in star formation in galaxies, but her heartbreaking story’s connection to her work brought tears to my eyes. Listen to Charity’s story on Radio Lab: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/r...

Can we put in a rule book somewhere that outdoor southeast US weddings between the months of May and September are strictly prohibited, unless signed off by grandma / grandpa and meteorologist 🥵

I was a huge fan of the Pokémon series for much of my tween and teen life. It was only today that it’s the Magikarp my personality closely matches to. Little clumsy, kinda awkward, but can a square up if necessary. 🐟

Dear New Quilter, as the MQG shares challenges for the 2026 event, know that you totally can do it. My Red Giant quilt was my first ever challenge quilt and first experience to have a quilt in a show and it used just 3 of the 6 colors. Make your beautiful quilt! youtube.com/shorts/dyo9E...

I preheated the oven for cinnamon rolls tonight while my sourdough sandwich bread was resting the overnight in there. Needless to say, the loafs are mounds of under-proofed bread. 🙃

Introducing “Saturn is Made of Mousse”: my original quilt design for the #PantoneQuiltChallenge2025. Minimalist in structure, cosmic in theme. Mocha Mousse (Moda Bella Solid, Cocoa) anchors the palette. 53.5” sq. Quilted with hexagons to honor Saturn’s storm. This mission’s voyage is complete! 🚀 🪐 🤎

I’ve been on another journey: Sourdough! A friend bestowed a portion of her starter with me and I’ve been baking for the last month like I’ve got a bakery startup on the mind. It’s been lots of fun to plan, the chemistry of making and the differences in types of pans to bake in.
