Using cross-sectional data in communication studies remains common. While we now consciously acknowledge that correlation does not imply causation, how might the most classic media effects theories evolve with longitudinal data?

Thanks! Someone also mentioned Mayring to me.

Thanks for your words. I was specifically looking for references to "qualitative content analysis," not just qualitative research in general.

One of my students talked about 'qualitative content analysis'. Coming from communication studies from HK, UK, and the US, I have never learned of this. Could anyone point me to any authoritative source on this method?

Jupiter this evening. One of the unusual times when all 4 Gallilean Moons appear on one side of their parent! #astronomy #astrophotography @stormhour.bsky.social @photohour.bsky.social

Couldn’t put this book down once I started. It’s amazing on so many levels—one standout is how it frames visits to themed cafe-bars as a form of "healing," addressing both Japan’s stagnant economic conditions and the precarity faced by visitors. Brilliantly conceived.

How come this makes my day 😂

Just read a paper whose author claimed that Taiwanese gay men who want to get married, but whose mainland Chinese boyfriends don't (or can't), are marginalizing Chinese gay men and imposing a Western ideology.

I am working on a media psychology study. Reviewer #2 suggested that my discussion should be framed specifically within the context of HK. This feedback made me wonder how often studies based on US data limit their discussions exclusively to the US context - almost never, right?

Perhaps the Australian govt can take a look.

New CDC data is out on youth mental health. Unsurprisingly, the biggest issues have nothing to do with social media. If only we could actually convince policymakers to invest in the actual problems that youth face. For a great topline look at the new data, see: www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/open...
Why the latest CDC teen mental health report is a politically inconvenient bombshell for crusading California pols
The report reveals that teens’ use of social media is more complicated than the simplistic campaigns to restrict access recognize.
