Nojiko Hayakawa's such an underrated artist, breathtaking cover art & even better paneling.
Usually artists'll have a couple standout panels, but every page from her just look like this.
Very natural paneling, her art isn't constrained by the boxy shapes the way so many manga do.

all volumes of stay by my side after the rain are published in english by seven seas. forgot to include this on alt, sorry!

vol 4 of “stay by my side after the rain” have a lot of beautiful moments, but this one grabbed my heart 🥹💛 the growing feeling of “there is hope” for a young boy, who’s probably feeling so confused and left out, when he sees a couple being happy and themselves!!

(recommendation) a starlit darkness:

lilatheduckk.bsky.social
“a starlit darkness” by toyota yo have been pretty interesting so far. it’s interesting to see how she’s exploring the lives of these two different writers who has extremely different lives and how the literary world is so prejudiced by works that are adored by women and not men

(recommendation) kono koi wo hoshi ni wa negawanai:

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
“kono koi wo hoshi ni wa negawanai” dives headfirst into the complexity of human relationships and how many feelings are completely linked to others, making it difficult to deeply understand where does the pain stops and love begins (and what if they are intertwined?)

lilatheduckk.bsky.social
i talk a lot about yamashita-sensei's one shots but i recently read "je t'aime, café noir" and it definitely became one of my favs. she managed to create a short story with 7 different characters and all of them have a fun storyline and engage with the narrative in different ways
"je t'aime, café noir" by yamashita tomoko is available in a manga with the same name

available in english on manga planet

(thoughts on) haha to ane:

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
haha to ane have an eeriness that feels like will attack you at any point. a story about sisters who lost their cold and distant mother. both are dealing not only with grief, but also with the guilt of feeling relieved by her departure; afraid of ending up like her or one another
"haha to ane" by fuyumushi kaiko

no oficial english translation yet

(recommendation) kaze machi no futari:

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
"kaze machi no futari" by kashiwai is a very comforting reading. it explores the friendship of a lonely painter and a young girl who suddenly appears on his house. it talks a lot about loneliness, about old wounds that are slowly fading and new days to be lived to the fullest

(analysis) umibe no stove:

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
i can easily say that "umibe no stove" was one of my favorite reads this year. it's an anthology with stories that explores human relationships and life itself.

each short story impacted me in different ways, but two of them deserves to be highlighter on this thread (+)
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
(thoughts/analysis) three most recent one shots by yamashita tomoko:

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
yamashita tomoko-sensei isn’t an author that shies away from topics like grief, those who questions what people understand as human nature and what one is capable of doing when faced with the unexpected.

and that is explored even more on her latest three one shots (+)

(thoughts on) sleeping bug:

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
sleeping bug is another interesting work by kyouyama atsuki that explores different understandings of romantic relationships and sexual desire. uruno felt very demi to me, specially when he started to understand more of how he was “programmed” and what love and sex meant to him

top 3 choices of the young magazine manga titles:

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
ok, finally reached my top three from the young magazine manga titles: still you, the sequel of boys run the riot and godmother.

i will talk a little bit about them on this thread!

(recommendation): the fool, the absolute mad woman

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
finally read "the fool, the absolute mad woman" after having the pdf for a while and i could spend hours reading more!!! the art is beyond gorgeous and the mystery that each page and interaction hides is simply so good
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
(thoughts on) barefoot angel:

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
barefoot angel was the type of story that caught me by surprise (in a great way!). it talks about a shoemaker that one day finds a mysterious man that claim to be an "ex-angel". both start to live together and learn more about each other's worlds, which they have no idea about

(thoughts on) RG veda:

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
RG veda really is the start of CLAMP’s legacy in challenging destiny and make us all question if there is a way to change what it was already written in the starts. if to fulfill a promise to the one you love, would you open the doors to destruction?

(thoughts on) fake fact lips break:

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
i love, love how their communication grew even more in “fake fact lips break”. love how both of them recognized their own flaws, but also set their boundaries. their companionship and love grew more and more, it was so cute to see 🥹
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
(recommendation): rouge no kioku

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
"rouge no kioku" is such a fun one shot. i'll love the way battan write women with such a power to enchant whoever they want, even the readers. and ending with fujiko throwing a challenge to the one who got away, pretending to be so nonchalant about it. so gooood!!!

(thoughts on) gene bride vol 2:

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
surprising no one, gene bride vol 2 was amazing. love how the story are slowly building the anxiety, carefully showing the perversity that the university hides. all this without failing to expose all the harassment that women suffer and how society always makes us feel inferior
"gene bride", by takano hitomi. volume 2

translated in english by seven seas, available digitally and physically "gene bride", by takano hitomi. volume 2

(some thoughts) nani sore ai ka yo:

bsky.app/profile/lila...
lilatheduckk.bsky.social
nani sore ai ka yo was a very interesting read. it was nice to see how yoshida started to really listen to his own feelings and how iida finally stopped running away from facing anything that challenged him. but one thing that liked was how their feelings were explored (+)
