for some reason shudder acquired the streaming rights for some Hitchcock master works which is great for me but it is pretty funny seeing user reviews giving vertigo 2 stars because it’s too long and boring

I know I’m way too young to start complaining about the good old days of Twitter 6 years ago but man I just want to know about events or movies I like or what friends are up to and instead every website wants me to spend 6 hours of my day watching 15 second videos that suck

I’ve tried to stop scrolling on basically all social media sites and this sounds sad but it makes me miss when these sites were actually usable
used to feel like being on Twitter or Instagram or whatever was a good way to stay aware about stuff you were interested in and now it’s all memory holes

and to clarify I’m not saying I dislike this
I think it’s quite charming honestly
like we go from over the top traditional demon slash ghost movie fare delivered in a fun setting/conceit to learning that hell house takes place in this absurd cartoon world where teenagers are livestreaming demons

like idk about you but for me the fun part about hell house was a haunted haunted house
that’s very novel I like that
the part where there’s a very cheesy stock cult was just kind of set dressing so I’m really not pressed to learn about it

watching hell house movies and I just love how when solid one off horror movies get turned into franchises instead of running with the winning formula, they almost always choose to unnecessarily expand on the lore
it almost never works with these straightforward concept films but it’s so fun to me

i don’t mind that much because I feel like one or two decent ideas were the best things resurrection did
I’d rather watch a fun execution of a kind of weird concept over a pretty unremarkable execution of a safe one
but that’s just me
