Oh yeah, those are the words I really want to see on my PC that 'just needed a little Win11' update: 'Your keyboard is disabled whist we update your firmware...'
Elements - really engaging (albeit about 10 years old) chemistry podcasts with Justin Rowlatt and Andrea Sela
Can also recommend leftover fish pie used as toast-toppers on sourdough toast. That was this week's revelation for me.
Mostly Chaotic Evil with my own books. Typically Chaotic Good with other people's.
A previous partner would dispute the Chaotic Evil stance because he always said he liked to see at what point a previous reader had paused - I liked that.
Hahahahahahaha! Fantastic, thank you
Help! Pub conversation: is the Mos Eisley Cantina Theme in Star Wars IV a Charleston? It had never occurred to my OH. I've only ever heard it as a Charleston... please advise
Unintended consquences: ex-ministers are dis-incentivised from seeking another position.
Perhaps requiring them to complete a "journal" demonstrating that they are seeking alternative positions, undertaking training or volunteering and reporting to a job coach on a regular basis could help?
Barley Mow or Little Martha are very convenient places to recover from travel. Martha also having a convenient pasty-annexe until 3pm
Holiday. Best pub in town.
This, in the York Tap, on York station. Around the other side of the circular bar was a full complement of Timmy Taylor beers. Allowed myself a smirk
Hey, Toto, we're not in Kansas any more...
I wonder when the press will make it about another wave of defections to "Our Lady of the We don't like women in ministry". I'm an atheist, and I get tired of it...
If he does go to church, sounds awfully like he's not actually listening to what's being said...
Catholic Cathedral also a thing of loveliness - Cathedral Church of SS Peter and Paul
So, you can tell it's autumn. We've just made a large batch of hot and sour green tomato curry paste. Most has gone into the freezer for winter meals.
Oh! and the phone picked up a LOT quicker than expected. Still no resolution as such but I am armed with a few more facts, at least.
Another day, another interminable call queue at HMRC. At least I haven't been put through their IVR system, and an extra bonus of the hold music swapping between two tunes - at least that's a novelty.
More adult gardening today. Where adult = remembering to do jobs at the right time. Spring me will congratulate autumn me for spending time planting narcissus bulbs
I think I have them all. We buy them, regularly at auction and in secondhand vinyl shops for our 1960's juke boxes. Duplicates are frequent - so end up in boxes in the loft. In the auction house we use, lots of more interesting (Northern Soul, Ska, Reggae) labels regularly sell for >£1000
Indeed. This was about 8 years ago. Today me would have told him to fuck off.
I one met a professional colleague in a pub for a business meeting. It's a pub which is usually very quiet during the day and there are several different areas to sit in.
He sat almost right next to us and after a while he told us we were ruining his pub visit because we were talking about work.
I don't know about productivity in other areas but I suspect a more granular representation of Surrey, E&W Sussex and Brighton and Hove would show how things skewed are in some places.
The glamour of being the COO of a tiny, underfunded CIC. Saturday- QAing old laptops to be donated to clients and fixing door locks with a pair of pliers.
Yesterday sewing replacement seat backs for our loved, but tatty chairs for clients.
Today was all about writing funding bids.Beer O'clock?
Owchie!
This one has a retractable blade but my injury occurred in use - partly because I kinda needed to use it with my right hand...and I'm not right-handed.
